Skirting the Issue

We’re skirting the issue of Spring not being here, that is. I know we’re all tired of talking about and dealing with the weather; unfortunately we still have to dress for it. This affects us especially for workwear. It’s not bad enough having it be cool outside, but the office temps are never amenable either!

Enter in forcing skirt wearage. When you like skirts as much as we do, you have to push beyond the weather. This means wearing tights (obviously) until you either rip them all or get sick enough of them to bare your stems! Which is exactly where I’m at – skipping the tights from here on out.

Growing up in the era of mini skirts during high school, I didn’t discover my love for midi skirts until entering the workforce. I realized the joys of covering my legs in searching for work skirts. Unfortunately at that time we didn’t have as many options as we do now and I am STILL getting rid of skirts that I had no business wearing in a professional setting.

The beauty of the midi skirt is that most regular-people-sized skirts will still work on our long legs. Behold this lovely ribbed knit skirt from Anthropologie. My mom found this for me as a birthday gift and not only is it long enough, but it is warm as well.

Anthropologie is a treasure trove of midi skirts; not particularly budget conscious but if you’re buying a classic piece like black and white stripes, you know it’s not going out of style! Any time you have a voluminous skirt, you want to wear something more fitted on top.

This brings us to another closet staple, (if you like turtlenecks that is – if you’re like Caitlin and can’t stand stuff on your neck please skip this blurb) the black turtleneck bodysuit! What I love about this Asos piece is how many different things I can mix and match it with.

Another one of my favs for shoes, is Nine West. They have been a legit option for me over and over again. My love for pointy toed shoes reigns on thanks to them providing great options at Nordstrom Rack.

Caitlin has been looking for a great priced midi skirt and snatched this up from asos. Far from boring, the lace adds a touch of subtle detail. This skirt is a tall, so it will hit at the appropriate length for us! Remember Caitlin is 5’11 so anything taller and you might be hitting the knee area.

Does anyone else become overwhelmed with the need to test the twirl factor when you have on a flowy skirt? Never any regrets on that!

This whole outfit is about subtle details. Caitlin found this pearl sprinkled top at Express and added it tucked in with the skirt for a great work appropriate look. With a detailed top, you need minimal jewelry as well.

The point is to make getting dressed for work in the morning effortless and classic and this outfit easily accomplishes it.

Oh, and had to throw in a blooper for your amusement. Checking out the shirt close up.

If you’re looking for more stripe options to transition you to warmer weather, check out our shop page! There’s plenty of great options.

Tell us below, are you a fan of midi skirts? Perhaps you like to show off your long gorgeous legs with minis? No wrong answers, we’d love to hear from you!
