Camouflaging Men’s to Women’s Wear

As we spoke about last week (here), we are pretty selective about our print choices. Camouflage being one of those prints that we insist on getting precisely right!

It could be chalked up to being raised by a hunter who put on camouflage not only when he hunted but incorporated it into his everyday wear as well, but we’ve wholeheartedly embraced the print and I think the fashion industry has as well, judging by the options you can find in most stores!

While we’re thrilled to have camo become so prevalent, there have been some very interesting takes and embellishments that in our opinion, are just unnecessary. Most of the time, we’ll see an option and there will be something just off about their take on it and we pass on adding it to our wardrobe.

Fear not tall women, we DID find a solution (obviously). Buy from the mens’ section! There is no rule saying you can’t march over there and try on a hoodie, or a button up or whatever your heart desires, to see if you can make it werk! Spoiler alert, you CAN!

When you’re going camouflage, you might as well camouflage further by matching with your sister! We’re already mistaken for each other often so instead of playing it off, we play it up!

My days of wearing men’s stuff has gone way way back, probably helped by the fact that I had a twin brother. One of my favorite zip up sweatshirts was a men’s option from H&M (I still miss you, come back to me missing sweatshirt)!

No one bats an eye when you throw on your t shirt for whatever event you attended or sports team you joined, so why question your ingenuity in striking out on your own and making menswear work for you! I can tell you confidently, you won’t regret having long enough sleeves and a slim enough fit!

Another great example of shoes worn by men and women are converse! They are classics and can be worn so many different ways. For a long time I held off on buying them, thinking that my feet were too big and I’d look like a clown. Get rid of that silly self talk and own it! Now while I’m thrilled have them, I’m sad it took me so long to come around to the idea.

Add some ripped jeans and you’ve got yourself a super comfy yet edgy look to last you the day. We threw on our shades and you look even more cool – as if it’s possible at that point (hah). But these sunnies have been the perfect style to invest in!

Have you ever borrowed from the boys? If so, are you sold on coming back for more or one and done?
