A Dusting of Spring
I know we’re not alone in enjoying the ability to be outside, especially half of the time without a jacket. There is something so freeing about dressing lighter, aside from realizing you can’t exactly hide those extra tacos under a sweater anymore.
Who ever wanted to hide their tacos anyway though, amiright? Let your love shine through! Ok ok, getting carried away but we had a girls night out last Friday and drinking a margarita is so much sweeter when the weather is warm!
Spring in Wisconsin can be somewhat of a unpredictable friend though, and this is where some light layers can come to your rescue! Instead of a traditional jacket, why not consider a duster? Tall women are blessed with being able to pull off styles shorter women might not be able to and the duster is a perfect example of that.
We came across this duster at Express and after a brief consultation between us, it was purchased. Prayers were said the whole time it was on its’ shipping journey to Caitlin that the sleeves would be long enough.
It was meant to be, because once Caitlin tried it on she fell in love. What could be better than wearing a super soft robe-esque piece that is completely on trend? At 5’11 it is the perfect length on her as well. I can imagine some shorter ladies might have it dragging on the ground.
The stripes are another reason to love it’s classic look. She threw on some white jeans and a white ribbed top and it’s a fresh look that will easily carry you into summer. This would be perfect for a night down at Summerfest, when the lakefront cools down and you don’t really want to wear a sweatshirt.
Ahem, and clearly as you can tell by the post date – it’s before Memorial Day. Which technically means don’t wear white, but we all know that rule is thrown out and once the ground dries up for us Wisconsinites and there will be no snafus with kicking up mud at yourself (not a personal experience for me or anything to learn that invaluable lesson) wear those white jeans when and how you want!
I paired my Old Navy distressed jeans with a blue pinstripe top, also from Express. Old Navy has really gotten their white jeans dialed in to perfection, where you don’t feel like you can see every flaw/imperfection through them.
As you can tell as well – these beauties are plenty long for my 37 ½” inseam. I was even able to cuff them slightly to not have them overlap my sandal straps. What a beautiful thing! The widget has this seasons updated distressed options.
Clearly Express is taking their sweet time to perfect their tall range (just a wish at this point). In the meantime, whenever we see boyfriend button up, we definitely check the options out! The boyfriend options usually have extra room in the shoulders; which we don’t know about you – but we need it!
The other wonderful thing about boyfriend shirts is since the shoulders are dropped a bit, you don’t even have to size up, sometimes like this option you can size down! Roll up the sleeves for a easy styled look – not just because the sleeves are a bit too short and you’re all set. We both have this shirt from last year and we’ve linked similar below.
We both found these Abound sandals at Nordstrom Rack and it was love and comfort joined in harmony! They have an updated option this year as well added in the widget below.
Tell us below, would you try a duster? Where are you favorite places to find sandals in larger sizes?
