Gangham Style errr Gingham Style
Gingham week(s) reigns on! We already showed the cutest and most flattering gingham shorts in our last post here, but now we’re onto a little dressier but still casual options.
I don’t know about you all, but that summer busy schedule is already hitting us! I think I have something every night this week. Plus Caitlin is traveling for business, so it’s good that I’m busy otherwise I miss my lifting buddy too much.
Speaking of lifting – we have really been enjoying our lifting plans recently. Now that it’s warm outside, we’ve been able to do some massive tire flips outside. Wow are those tiring, but rewarding. They definitely leave their mark though, we usually look like we played in the dirt by the time our workout is over and then end up with a bruise on our upper arms, as evidenced below!
As tall women, I know we all get stared at – oftentimes with mouths agape. It’s kind of fun when we’re flipping this huge tire back and forth to know that people are probably staring because of that instead of height. But still… move along people.
I have to say, as a non licensed trainer/physician – lifting has been one of the greatest things for my body. Now feeling like I have a strong core and can actually play basketball again (because for awhile I didn’t think I’d be able to play pain free again), is one of the best feelings!
The beauty of being strong is it doesn’t equate to not being able to be beautiful or feminine as well. A lot of women have the common misconception that lifting makes you manly. As someone who loves to dress ultra feminine with ruffles and bows; I have never felt once I started taking lifting seriously that I was becoming less of a woman. We both encourage anyone who is thinking of lifting to look into it more and ask your doctor!
Speaking of dressing ultra feminine, once I saw this tiered maxi dress, I knew it had to come home with me! I loved the movement of the skirt, and also where it hit on the model and it ended up being the same for me.
The slightly above ankle length really allows your sandals to shine and it lets everyone dying to see your feet (to check if you are in fact THAT tall), confirm their fears of you towering above them.
The straight neckline is a nod to the 90’s and is perfect for any daytime event! It’s also super lightweight, despite being lined. So no worries on overheating either. One other thing worth noting – is the option to use this maxi as a maternity option as well. Then you’d be able to wear it while pregnant but still have use for it after!
Caitlin’s outfit is the most perfect faux wrap skirt. She loved that the wrap was tieable but not an actual wrap, as those can tend to be a little frightening. You know how you can be walking along loving your wrap skirt or dress and a wind blows through and voila, you flashed everyone your undies! None of that here, just pure cuteness.
She paired it with a wrap top, which provides more visual interest. She tucked in the top to define her waistline! But seriously, Gap has been killing it with their Gingham options, as evidenced by our shorts in the last post. Not only are they providing many different options but giving us life by have TALL options!
Her sandals were a recent find as well and have quickly become a favorite. They have enough detail to be able to be dressed up but are super comfortable as well!
I know we’ve had a request for maxi dresses for tall women. Hopefully this is what you’re looking for, Old Navy has been a great option for us with maxi’s.
