Gingham #ForLife
Another week, and another gingham outfit. You thought you were only going to get one gingham week? Surprise! We’re hitting you with another one! Did you have a chance to check out last week’s posts? We found the most wonderful shorts here, and then a great dress and skirt here!
Hopefully everyone had a good weekend, we definitely did. Caitlin returned from her work trip and immediately headed out to camp with her friends. Camping has always been a part of our lives, we’ve been on countless camping trips with our family and now we love to go with our family AND friends! There is so much natural beauty in Wisconsin, begging to be seen. Caitlin has been investing in her own gear recently, like this chair, which has been amazing and comfortable. She has this four person instant tent, which is the easiest and quickest to set up and also this rain fly – which definitely came in handy this weekend! She also finally invested in this air mattress and this pump and is loving them! They were driven away by rain and endless mosquitoes, but still made the most of it.
This weekend we celebrated my husbands’ birthday! We got some great time together. Friday night was spent playing games with friends and eating delicious homemade Pad Thai at their house. Has anyone played this game yet? There are two versions, this one is the younger, more family friendly version. We laughed so hard, just make sure you play with people you’re comfortable with so you can really go for it!
Saturday we went to see Deadpool 2, which was really funny as usual but not quite as good of storyline as the first one. Sunday on his actual birthday we went to church, played in a coed rec league basketball game, and had some family over for homemade pizza and his requested lemon desserts.
All in all, couldn’t have asked for a better weekend, except for the weather! We’re still battling to keep our warm weather and today especially is a high of 50. Which makes these outfits a bit premature, but maybe by Memorial Day weekend.
This fun print is made for celebrations – no matter how classy or casual they may be. Today we have a midi dress option and a ruffle one shoulder.
Caitlin came across this classic dress while perusing Asos (which is a daily occurence). She sent to me, and being that it isn’t a tall, we deliberated over it while finally saying why not give it a try?
There are several upsides and downsides of Asos. One positive, is the free shipping and returns over $40. That is not an unreasonable amount to spend, especially for a dress. Or you could even justify the $19 for 2-day shipping for the whole year. Maybe that’s just us, but we would definitely get our money’s worth.
One of the downsides, is they don’t do reviews. So you might be wondering, does this run true to size. They’ve definitely improved their item description on the type of fabric and the fit, but you need to learn to read between the lines. If they say the fabric is stretchy with lots of give, clearly you’ll have room for error in sizing. Conversely, if the fabric doesn’t have give, we’ve sized up accordingly and still haven’t gotten it right.
With all that said, if you don’t mind the charge on your credit card – order two sizes, especially if it’s your first order from Asos. For the most part, they are true to size. Also, remember that they are a British company. Switch the site to their U.S. option or whatever country you might be in, for correct sizing. UK sizing is technically 2 sizes smaller than ours (ie a UK 10 is a US 6), which would be a big mistake for ordering purposes!
Asos also carries a ton of different brands on their site, from Nike to Hollister. Which is actually funny, because this dress is from Hollister, via Asos. I’m sure most of us probably figured we were done buying from Hollister!
The ruffle top is also from Asos, but old from last year. The black shorts are another perfect pair from Gap. They are easily worn dressy or to a work event especially with the amazing 4” inseam. You won’t regret it, and your long legs will feel covered enough.
Have you purchased from Asos before? Do you wear 4” inseam shorts? Sound off below in the comments, we’d love to hear from you!
