One Top, Two Ways
Welcome back to the real world, where we’re not living only for days out on the lake or the beach and barbeques with friends and family are endless. The transition to regularly scheduled desk life is super difficult after a weekend of utterly gorgeous weather.
At least we can dress the part, even if our hearts are still outdoors. I got to play some beach volleyball and dip my feet into the still freezing Lake Michigan in Chicago. I also tried a couple of delicious new to me restaurants and had some quality twin time! We also had a great time hanging at our friends house in town, playing yard games and getting our first mosquito bites out of the way.
Caitlin had gorgeous weather up north and did some UTV’ing, pontoon reading, had a day out on the lake pontooning around and playing lots of yard games and got her first water ski session of the summer in. They also had a fish fry and sat around the bonfire to end their nights.
Now that we had weekends with a bit more indulgence than normal – looking at you extra french fries; we’re so ready to have a great workout tonight. That’s the best part about having a great workout buddy, you can always count on them to get you hyped to get back to the gym! If you’re less about working out and more about laying out, we’ve got you covered with some summer reading on our reading page here. I just updated it with what I’m currently reading and some authors I’ve enjoyed across multiple books!
Onto today’s workwear. I know you guys are sensing a theme here, but we really do just like the same stuff! When one of us buy something, chances are the other already has it, or will have it eventually and this top is a great example of that.
We found this at Express and felt like it was the perfect professional top while still being fun. The colors are obviously a bit better than the typical bland options we have to choose from.
We wanted to show the versatility of styling this top, because it can be worn tucked in, shown by Caitlin or still look professional untucked, by me.
Caitlin and I both also have these culottes from asos. We pounced on them and they are actually a great buy for the ladies on the taller end of the spectrum, because they fit me perfectly. Caitlin actually had the hem taken up on hers, so at 5’11 they hit her a bit longer than she’d like.
She paired it with some mules, which are also a perfect way to update your shoe collection for work. We were chatting about mules recently, now that we’ve been wearing them for awhile and laughing about how if your foot slips while mid stride, you can really come down on your heel hard. That will take the breath right out of you, so beware the perils of mules!
I’ve been into brighter colors more and more, so when I picked this top and looked into my closet to find something to pair it with – this skirt caught my eye. It’s a find from asos’ mainline. Don’t limit yourself to searching only in their tall section, there is so much more to be found, especially their extensive midi dress/skirt collection or anything labeled longline.
My shoes are another great Ninewest find from Nordstrom Rack. I did hear that Ninewest is going out of the business recently and I find that news devastating! Their shoes fit my narrow feet really well and the price point was always agreeable. Caitlin wasn’t as sad until she just recently found a beautiful new pair of Nine West Sandals at the Nordstrom Rack as well. We can’t find them online on the rack but they are sold on their website, here. Hoping another retailer will fill the void.
