Off the (Shoulder) Cuff
We’re over here powering through the work week, despite it being a shortened version for me! Hopefully everyone else is having a good week, we’re just living for the weekend lately. It probably doesn’t help that we had a late volleyball game one night, and a concert another (yay for free Zac Brown Band tickets – thanks Alli). All of it was worth it though, nothing beats spending time with friends and family or listening to some amazing live music.
We’ve got another full weekend on the books ahead. Wisconsin is always bustling with activity in the summer, and we always want to take advantage of that! We’re playing some volleyball Friday night with friends and grabbing some dinner. Saturday we’re getting some more blog pictures done, can’t wait for you guys to see them! Plus I have a baby shower for my college roommate/teammate and then we’re heading down to Milwaukee’s Germanfest. I’m excited for another opportunity to wear my dirndl and for Tim to wear his lederhosen we bought for Munich’s Oktoberfest!
It’s easy, as we’re taking these pictures and integrating ourselves into the “world or culture” of blogging to start to have an ungrateful spirit. It leads you to focus on what’s next or what you don’t currently have instead of being excited about what you do have and all the blessings you already have in your life.
This is a good moment for us both to take a step back and remember our goals and the bigger picture instead of just mindlessly spending money on those instant gratification things. We don’t want this space to be that for anyone else either, to come to and feel bad about measuring up against anyone else.
We totally respect everyone having budgets and want to be realistic with you guys about what we’re spending our hard earned money on, because we don’t have an unlimited budget to buy everything we want! Some of the things we show might not be the trendiest pieces, but it might be something that you “need” to have in your closet for work, or for your everyday life, which isn’t glamorous! We want you to buy things and get lots of use out of it, like we do!
So enough of my off-the-cuff remarks, and onto our outfits. They are a great example of things we’ve both had in our closets and weren’t necessarily excited to pull out and take pictures of. Obviously we still like both of our outfits, but we try to keep some of it shoppable for you guys as well!
My outfit is an off the shoulder top from asos. It is the Glamorous Tall brand, which I’ve found pretty consistent in their sizing for me. The cream color makes it super easy to grab and pair with whatever color bottoms you want, but in this case I also grabbed a pair of jeans from asos’ denim line. These are their Ridley style, and they are meant to fit tightly but I still think they’re true to size. Easy to reach for, are always my Nine West pointed toe flats.
Caitlin’s dress is also from asos, and is one that we both ended up ordering. I think I shrunk mine in the laundry, so it’s a little too short for my liking now. But her dress is the perfect length for not worrying about bending over. The fabric skims nicely over your body and doesn’t show imperfections, which is always what we look for in our dresses!
What about you? What are your favorite brands off asos? Have you tried their jeans and liked them? Disliked them? Sound off below!
