Twirling into the Week
We’re back at the work week again. I just recently had someone say – the acorns are falling and that means fall is coming and I am NOT ready to hear that yet. I don’t know about y’all but summer gets sweeter and sweeter every year for me. We both really try to savor it all and make new memories.
We had fun as usual playing some volleyball with friends and then making some homemade pizzas Friday night and popping in a movie. Saturday was a super packed day, as we shot some new content and then grabbed our favorite flavor of the day from Kopps. I also had a baby shower for my college roommate/teammate. I can’t even believe how many people have/are having babies, I love it! We headed down to Germanfest, which has become a fun tradition for us to attend yearly. This year was even better because we got to wear our traditional garb!
Sunday we had a book club meetup, to discuss this incredible book. Can’t recommend it enough, there’s a reason it has been on the Amazon bestseller charts for a LONG time. It was an epic novel about a teenagers life during WWII in Nazi occupied Italy. It is truly unbelievable that a boy that age was able to grow up so quickly and take on that much responsibility and pressure. If anyone is interested in book recommendations, I try to keep our reading page updated at least monthly!
In our last post here, I talked about being grateful and realizing how much we’re blessed with in our lives. It’s also ironic, considering I’m trying to purge stuff from our house but wanting to buy more! I think that it’s natural when you’re getting emails with new season items, so sometimes it’s nice to avoid your emails or unsubscribe if you don’t need to be tempted. This post carries on in the same vein, because this is a dress I love but I have had for a while and don’t necessarily get super excited about.
I completely adore the color and the style, especially the pleated skirt and it’s “twirlability (I enjoy making up words),” but the greed monster in me always wants to find a new unworn dress for any event. Which I know is completely absurd and unrealistic. Plus; when I put this dress on, I always feel pretty and am so glad I bought it. Pleated dresses are so easy to wear for whatever type of event you might have, they’re completely versatile!
While this specific dress is no longer available, there are always variations up on the site and we’ve attached a bunch of options from the tall, main line, one plus sized option and even a maternity dress in the widget below!
Sometimes you just need to shop your own closet and let yourself get re-inspired all over again. Or if you’re lucky enough to have a friend, sister, mom of the same size; shop their closet too! I found this in Asos mainline range. We want to encourage you all to look there as well as the tall options, and just filter by “midi” length. As you can tell, it’s a great length on me and I’ve found many other dresses that look perfectly good as well. I would caution against some of the stiffer fabric dress options, because then you start dealing with the hips being in the wrong spot. If you have access to a tailor, that’s an easy fix!
Have you found a tailor, or do you just rely on trying things on and making sure they fit correctly before you buy them? Are we alone in wanting to buy new dresses for every event that comes up?
