By the time you’ll be reading this I’ll be in New York! Yes, I’m going back again. This will be my first time in the spring. It will also be my first time going without my mom (insert sad face). However, I’m super excited that this is the first time I’ll be experiencing it with Tim. We’re just doing a quick weekend with a couple friend of ours. As usual, we’ll be doing a ton of walking, there’s no better way to see lots of the city.

Back at home Caitlin has a fun weekend for herself planned! She’s headed to the Brewer’s game, which lets face it, is really an excuse to tailgate. If you’re not from around here, you might not understand. Tailgating is serious business in Milwaukee, they have to set limits on how early they open the parking lot, and shoo people into the game eventually. Wisconsin people just like to stand outside and play games and have a beer! If any of you are into yard games our brother will be bringing this one to play which is all of our favorites! We have to take advantage when we have the right weather.

She’s also going to Mumford & Sons with our brother. She bought him these tickets for our birthday back in November and they’ve been listening to the new album nonstop impatiently waiting for this day. It ended up being a funny coincidence, but I’m actually headed to New Orleans next weekend with him to also celebrate our birthday. Who knew we’d end up picking within a week to celebrate months later?! Also, if you have any lesser known recommendations for New Orleans (especially food) send them our way.

I got a couple of new dresses from Gap and I’m excited to head to a warmer climate and wear them. Nick doesn’t know it yet, but he’ll have to step up his game as a photographer so I can get some pictures for the blog haha. No longer just a #instahusband, but now an #instatwin or #instabro. We’ve already booked the Whitney Plantation tour, and also a Swamp boat tour, so we’ll definitely be heading out of the city for a day or two.

Anyway, let’s talk about this dress. I found it on Asos, and it caught my eye right away. It was mainly because it was more modest than you typically find. One of the constant frustrations, is trying to find great business dresses. With the caveat that it doesn’t break the bank. Another great work dress I found recently was this wrap dress I wore here. That one is on major sale and it a steal for how well it fits us as tall women!

This dress had a mock neck, which I am all about – as referenced by the many times I’ve worn turtlenecks on the blog and in life. I also greatly appreciated the sleeve length. It hits right above the elbow, which keeps your arms a little warmer and doesn’t cut off at an unflattering spot on your arm. The slits up the sides make it a little more risque than I’d typically choose, but it still keeps everything covered adequately.

I had ordered this during the black Friday sale. Luckily it came within the time of the sale because I had initially ordered a 12. I waffle between 10/12 for the Asos tall dresses. In this case, I had a bit too much room aka I looked like a bag lady. I returned and got a 10 and was much happier and relieved to find it still fit my shoulders. I added a vintage belt to tie in the waist a little bit. The look was finished with my favorite pumps from Long Tall Sally x Karl Lagerfeld. It left me feeling like one classy lady.

I’ve worn this a couple of times now, and it’s one of those looks that you can probably wear at least three seasons, especially if you throw on a pair of tights for the deep winter. Perhaps layering a cardigan or blazer over it as well. All in all, having a classy black dress on hand is never a bad idea. Plus one that is made for tall women, and the right price point. It’s a no brainer.

Tell us below, where do you snag your dresses for work? Also, anyone doing anything fun this weekend? Thanks for reading!

Ahh we meet again. Here we are, halfway through the week. Definitely feeling that type of way too. Do you ever get to a week and realize how much you overbooked yourself? That was me with this week. It’s mainly because I’m headed to New York for the weekend and I’m caught looking for some spare time to pack. Super excited to be visiting in the Spring though, and if anyone has any food recommendations, send them my way stat!

I attended a really interesting event last night on women’s wear at a local college. It was a presentation on if women’s wear really works, and the history behind some of it. Definitely a interesting question to pose. The evolution of fashion, even just in my lifetime has taken some turns for the better and some that make you go, huh?! It seems like we’re exploring more comfortable ways to make fashion and life intertwine. You know Caitlin and I are all about that!

Even as women who lift heavier than a good portion of the population, I was just talking about how I need to be careful or my shoulders won’t fit well in clothing. That, of course refers to more structured clothing. But the thought is also, that I can’t size myself further out of clothing options! It’s enough that we’re limited by our shoulders being broader than smaller females, and that we can’t fit in regular sized clothing. Softer, stretchier fabrics don’t treat us this way! But nothing feels more chic than a great blazer or jacket.

We’re definitely lucky to have found some great blazers recently, like this tall boyfriend fit option Caitlin wore here. It all goes back to wanting the same opportunity as a regular sized person to be able to walk into a store and find your size on the shelf to try on. We feel your pain on making an educated guess on sizing and it being a crap shoot on what shows up in your mailbox!

That’s why we still like to pop in and out of stores to try stuff on. It then comes without the cost of “buying” to try on. Anyone else get heated a little bit about that? Speaking of blazers, I tried one from Express, thinking it was a three quarter sleeve boyfriend option that I could make work. I sized up of course, and when it came the only place I think it fit right was the shoulders. The rest of it made me look like a bag lady, because the body was huge. To top it off, my wrists were definitely out there cold, looking for coverage. No big deal, I can just return it. Point being, I spent my monthly budget money when I could have just tried it on and realized it wouldn’t work!

We still get lucky sometimes, and that was the case when we stopped in Nordstrom Rack and spotted these bodysuits. We all develop an eye for noticing things that are out of the norm, aka longer than typical. When I saw these t-shirt bodysuits, I did a double take. I thought they just might work. Once we tried them on, game over. In fact, we were so excited we posted them immediately on our Facebook page to share with y’all.

We also had to snag one for our Momma, because if one tall girl wins, we need all tall girls to win! Plus it came in mustard, which is her unofficial color. So we were practically obligated. Caitlin and I each snatched them up in white and black to have options. We knew we had to shoot them together, because we’re all about some twinning. (Speaking of -stay tuned for some epic twinning on an upcoming trip in May!)

We would say that the bodysuits are true to size. All of us are wearing size large. We had our Mom style hers three ways, just to show you more of her and to give you ideas on how versatile it is, even in a yellow color! She paired it with a kimono she found at TJ Maxx for a colorful night out, and then with a tall chambray from Old Navy for an easy daytime look.As well as a tall Land’s End Cardigan and Kendra Scott Necklace. We haven’t touched a ton on Land’s End yet. However, they do offer some great tall options as well.

Enjoy the pic dump of us pretending to be a band and in general having a good time. Let us know below if you like when we find mainline wins!

I just have to explain the title in fear that some may not get it, and to be honest I may be stretching it but it still made me laugh. A Plumb test is to test an upright surface, to determine the vertical. Clearly we are vertically gifted around these parts, and in a Plum colored skirt this is where I landed with a title. Maybe it’s worse now that I explained it? Okay, let’s just move on shall we?

Anyways, happy Monday I hope you all had enjoyable weekends and got to do something outside, since the temps are finally rising. As Jenilee mentioned in our last post here I saw Randy Houser in concert for the second time Friday and it was great! I always appreciate when an artist sounds the same live as they do on the radio. I went with my roommate (and friend (ha) we always joke about this when we say roommates) and we had a blast! We also checked out a new to us restaurant in Milwaukee called Movida. They specialize in Tapas and Paella and definitely did not disappoint. They are a part of a restaurant group in Milwaukee and we have yet to be dissatisfied with one of their spots!

Saturday we grabbed some pictures with our mama which is always a favorite, because she is a posing master. She knows exactly how to tell us to twist, turn, and contort for the right shot. We wish we could bring her every time (and feature her more). Unfortunately it’s hard enough to schedule time just between Jenilee and I most of the time. Aside from the fun stuff, I got to finish (and start) my taxes, mend a pile of clothing that has been piling up for the last year, and celebrate a friends 30th birthday.

Let’s get to the good stuff, this outfit! I have actually been holding onto this skirt since the beginning of winter. It was part of a great sale, but it has just been too cold to wear it how I want. I was recently telling Jenilee, sometimes I feel like I can’t wear new items until we get the pictures we need for the blog. How silly is that? Keep in mind I only buy things I want/need/like so my main goal isn’t let me buy this to post, and never wear again. However, thinking I have to wait is comical to me. Yet here I am still doing it!

This skirt is easily a new favorite. It is a different material than any midi I own yet. It is a fairly light cotton and will carry me through Spring and Summer. I loved this outfit because it is a great transitional option with some warmth on top and Spring on bottom. The sweater I am wearing is another favorite from Asos. I will save you the full story, but if you want to know my full thoughts head over to our Yellow Floofer post here to hop on my soapbox. I especially love that this one is a versatile color and I have worn it so many times already.

I snagged this tassel necklace as part of an amazing Francesca’s sale and since the resin is rainbow I wear it with EVERYTHING. Jenilee also got some earrings during that sale that are multi colored tassels and she is also out there wearing them most days. It’s hard not to when they match virtually everything and people are complimenting them every day, am i right? Unfortunately due to a ripped earlobe, I can’t wear earrings anymore so I stick to the necklaces. Anyone else have this happen to them?

You have seen these heels over and over (and will continue to because I just got two more colors for my birthday) but we keep it real here. We can’t afford to buy things once to post and never wear them again. Our pieces are constantly circulating in and we hope this helps you do the same with your wardrobe. Our main goal here, is to have an approachable and attainable blog that you can shop and feel comfortable with. Because the end goal is us just trying to help you find clothing that fits correctly, not clothing that breaks the bank. With that being said, I cannot recommend these heels enough. You can shop them here and view some of our other favorites while you are at it!

All in all, this outfit kind of just made me feel like a great version of myself. I was comfortable, warm, and for me it’s workplace ready which is a huge part of my life.  I will be wearing versions of this on repeat. I think next up, I will try some sort of T-Shirt variation inspired by one of the very first outfits we ever posted on our blog. You can see it here!

Lastly, do you all like when we post the same pieces remixed or is seeing it on both of us of more valuable? We think it is incredibly helpful on other blogs, but if there is no interest here we can 86 it and keep on trucking. As always we want your feedback! Any thoughts, comments, concerns because we do this for you and want it to be as helpful as it can be. Happy Monday, Tall Fam!

Today is a good day for several reasons. Number one, we finally got our hair done!! We are the terrible clients who go too long between haircuts, and then crawl our mangy, split end, grown out roots butts back to our hair stylist. At that point we’re begging for her to work some magic. Luckily she always comes through with a great refresh, and we always come out with a relaxing sister night at the salon. Number two, it’s Friday and we have the weekend ahead of us! That one was a little more obvious.

Caitlin is seeing Randy Houser in concert tonight and checking out a new Tapa’s restaurant. She loves attending a good country concert with friends. Tim and I will be meeting up with my parents to see Captain Marvel. I keep hearing how different it is from the typical Marvel movie plot line. That’s not a bad thing in my opinion, and I can never turn down a chance to sit at the movies and shove my face with popcorn!

In keeping with the striped skirt I wore in yesterday’s post here, we’re back again today with a striped sweater. It always feels like in March, we should be able to stow away all sweaters and move onto to warmer weather items. Alas, it’s not meant to be; at least in Wisconsin. What’s always nice about the later batches of sweaters released by retailers, is that they typically brighten up, so at least the colors can feel more springlike. It allows us to more patiently pine away for the day we can bare our arms and eventually our shoulders to the sun once more.

This sweater is actually Caitlin’s, and is from asos tall range. Initially when we saw it, it was very appealing to us both. I was hesitant because sometimes even a tall crop, is too short. Which maybe has something to do with age, not that I’m opposed to a well done crop top. When I put it on, I realized it definitely could still work on me, so another item we are able to borrow between us.

I wore it with Express high waisted dark wash denim. So, anytime you buy denim from Express, their idea of high waist seems to be different than other places. Like this pair, it is definitely high in the back. I’d like to see it cover my belly button in the front as well. It all comes back to them needing to actually do a tall range. Either that or I’ll just take my money elsewhere. That’s been the most rewarding part of blogging, is figuring out that we don’t have to settle.

We want to encourage you to do the same. We’ll keep on showing you different options, and hopefully one of them will be the missing piece for you. That’s how it has felt finding new tall specific shops. It is completely empowering and rewarding! Fashion should be a fun way to express yourself, not a battle to try on 50 items only to realize none of them fit you.

All that being said, hope y’all enjoy your weekend. We’ll be out there snapping some pictures and hopefully enjoying the increased temperatures! Tell us below, do you avoid wearing sweaters in the spring, or just embrace the inevitable?

We’re back with a little bonus post for today! I feel like Donna and the Dynamos yelling “do you want another one?!” Anyone get that reference? Ok, it’s from Mamma Mia if that went right over your head. I was completely overjoyed when that movie came out, as our Mom loved to jam out to some Abba while we’re we’re cleaning on the weekends.

Anyone else have good memories from things you might not have necessarily enjoyed otherwise? Most aren’t enamored by the idea of chores. Pair it with some house-filling loud music, and we’re in business. I’m grateful my husband has adopted this into our home now. Nothing makes the time pass quicker on chores than jamming out and enjoying yourself.

Also, isn’t it funny the things we remember and choose to carry forward into our adult lives? So many times Caitlin or Nick will share a distinct memory from childhood, and I have no recollection of it. Sometimes it will sound vaguely familiar, but not something that I remember experiencing. We all assign our own meanings to experiences. If someone has a different reaction than you do, it doesn’t necessarily make it wrong or right. It’s simply their perception.

As tall women, we might have the same “experience” as someone else, but people might single us out because we’re different. Especially with other friends who might never have experienced pointed attention in the same way we do. So even if they’re besides us, while the experience was occurring, it might mean something completely different to them. While you might feel resentful, that you’re being singled out based on physical appearance, your regular sized friend might be resentful of you because she/he never gets to feel “special.”

See how easily perspective can shift on our realities? I’m not making the point that we as tall women should be grateful to be singled out as “special.” More a commentary on how people’s life experiences can be the same, but result in completely different feelings. There is your deep thought for the day, ponder away!

All of that aside, to show you this outfit. It came together ridiculously easy, as they usually do with black and white. I’ve always found it helps me feel like I have a cohesive look, when I add black and/or white into the mix. Caitlin was super excited about her jumper/overalls look, which we posted here yesterday if you missed it! We know y’all seem to like when we’re doing looks together, so I grabbed this on my way out the door to meet her for pictures.

This midi skirt is from Gap, and it is a tall. I got it on major sale, and completely love it y’all. It’s the perfect length, and the diagonal stripes are so fun but still professional. I found that I tend to avoid prints on top, for no discernable reason. It ends up meaning that I have a bunch of fun prints/colors for my skirt collection. This skirt was from the fall, so it’s no longer in stock. I did link a bunch of other tall midi skirts currently on sale at Gap.

We all can stop for a moment and laugh about this t-shirt. When I saw cute tall graphic t-shirt on asos, I fell in love immediately. Luckily, I received it as a birthday gift. The first time I wore it, was under a flannel. Maybe it’s obvious to some of you right away, but I was clueless until I got to work and realized the unfortunate..erm… sizing or spacing of the letters. To me, I was proudly displaying yasss, while to everyone else, I was proudly proclaiming ass! BAHAHAHA… oops.

If you caught our picture on instagram the other day, again I was heedlessly pulling my ponytail over my shoulder. Cute to show off my ribbon from H&M, not so cute (but still hilarious) to wear a (cr)ass t-shirt. As they say, no ragrets not even one letter (The Millers reference).

Are you into graphic t-shirts? Have you ever experienced a funny mishap of it seemingly saying something else? Caitlin got a cute one for her birthday and due to poor spacing, it looked like one word but ended up realizing it was two.
