The Perfect Dress for Tea
We’re kicking it with some color again today. No more mourning the end of Summer. But maybe check back in on us when the weather turns cold… that might be a different story. As for now, we’re living in the present, not worrying about the future. There is a Fall feeling in the air, which seems a bit premature. When I was floating on the river, we were out later in the day and the sun was caught behind the trees at certain points. I wasn’t alone in saying I was shivering, which was a far cry from when we went in July! The weather was still completely lovely for camping though, and much much better for sleeping purposes as well.
I tried out a new cot this weekend as well and it fits up to 6’6, so I slept very comfortably on it. Air mattresses have been consistently inconsistent for me, and after July’s snafu in which the air mattress was completely flat after only 4-5 uses, I had to admit defeat and try an alternative option. Really appreciated my new cot, the only thing worth noting is that it doesn’t fold up very small for transportation purposes. If you’re trying to optimize space, this probably isn’t your best bet! And to slightly tangent on tall friendly camping items we still stand behind this queen size chair being a necessity!
We realize that not everyone enjoys camping. For those that do, if you ever need camping essentials recommendations, we’re happy to help! We’re tent campers, but we still like to be comfortable. So call it partial roughin’ it! The one thing I can’t stand about camping is the long-lasting smell of campfire hair, even after washing it. It blows my mind how easily smoke just permeates and lasts in your hair.
But as I’m sitting here inhaling the persistent smell of bonfire, I can only smile and be grateful for another wonderful summer weekend! If you follow along on Instagram, you might have seen some of Caitlin’s adventures at the lake with our cousin. They had colder weather than us, being four hours north. They still went out on the boat and kayaked and enjoyed their time as well. In a conversation this weekend, someone who has lived on the west coast for several years noted that they love the type of people you find in the Midwest. Meaning that most of them stick around the Midwest because of their families, so they appreciate their values. I think you can find that a lot of places, but with our extreme temperatures it certainly rings true on family loyalty keeping us close!
That ties into Caitlin and I working on our blog together. It’s a labor of love and a way for us to spend time together and accomplish goals as well. It’s been a fun, time-consuming, wild journey. Thanks for sharing it with us! Because of your support we were able to visit the Asos showroom in London and ended up coming home with this delightful dress!
This is one of the last ones we have to share with y’all. I was so excited to see they picked it out because it had sleeves! I love a lot of dresses but obviously, with cooler work temperatures, they usually need sleeves or then a cardigan or sweater to layer over for warmth. The sleeves on this dress are perfect! They cut off above the elbow and they don’t squeeze my biceps either.
Plus the rest of this dress is ideal. I love the green and white floral print. Did you know that green is my favorite color? Most of the time I think this shade is a little too aggressive on its own, but broken up with white it just works! It just makes me feel fancy and ready for tea time (as referenced by the post title). I was able to wear this to work. In hindsight, not the best choice because of the thigh-high slit, but I got away with it, and even got a compliment or two! I also wore to church, but maybe wouldn’t recommend either. I was coming from brunch where we had taken these pictures, so I just rolled with it and tucked the skirt over to not feel risque.
All in all, I love this dress! It’s a step outside of a typical “me” dress and I love the romantic ladylike vibes of it. Do you ever try different dress styles and find out that they feel perfect for you? Let us know below!
