LBD (Long Black Dress)
I’m sure you all read that as the little black dress we are all used to hearing about. In these parts, we are talking about the LONG black dress and boy is it a good one. Long Tall Sally gifted me this dress and to be honest it isn’t something I would have picked out on my own. I tend to go for more of a wrap style, fit and flare, etc. Essentially something that isn’t going to hug my body extremely tightly. I was nervously waiting for it to come; anticipating me feeling very uncomfortable taking the pictures.
When it arrived I instantly felt better. The length for one is outstanding. You obviously cannot go wrong with a solid black dress, because black is always in! The sleeve length is divine, no tugging down the sleeves on this one. The fabric is high quality and you won’t need to worry about anything being see-through.
One of my personal favorite features is that it is fairly modest. For someone who is chesty, a v-neck can be your arch-nemesis. Causing you to always wear a camisole or something underneath to feel comfortable, and sometimes ruining the full effect of the style by doing so. I didn’t have to do that with this dress and I was pleased as pie. The slits up the side make it extremely easy to walk and add a sexy little flare. Standing at 5’11 I decided to add a little heel BECAUSE I COULD. So if you have some extra height no worries here.
All in all, this is a solid, classic piece for my closet. I cannot wait to pair it with a denim jacket to wear it as a more casual look, or perhaps a leather jacket to give it some edge. I was considering even trying to wear a sweater over it. Thoughts? We are really going to try and challenge ourselves this year with remixing our pieces so this seems like a great dress to add to the challenge. For this current look, I paired it with an extremely old necklace, my favorite black hat, and some basic black booties.
I am going to keep this one short but sweet for certain today. Long Tall Sally killed it with their Spring 2020 lookbook. If you haven’t had a chance to shop it yet we highly recommend perusing it.
