Welcoming Spring in Tall Express Denim

Good Morning! Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend. Lent has begun and in Wisconsin, that equates to unofficial fish fry season. All of the Catholics who can’t eat red meat have convinced the rest of us to join them every Friday for various favorite fish fry’s. If you don’t live in our fair state, you’re probably wondering what we’re talking about. Really though, it is big business and wildly popular. Online publication, OnMilwaukee published an extensive list of all the suitable fish fry options, check it out here and you’ll know we’re not exaggerating!

Friday night I (Jenilee) went to one of the options on the list and it’s called… Kegel’s. It’s ok, we can all chuckle immaturely. Keeping it real, but not a lot of fish fries impress me. It’s probably because a lot of places just cover up mediocre fish with a fried batter. I can taste right through it, haha. I’ve had a Vietnamese version, and that’s top two, other than our homemade bluegill fish fry we do up north with the fish we catch ourselves. We were drooling over the picture The Buckatabon released of their fish fry, so you know we have to try it as soon as it opens! Check out their Instagram or Facebook page to see for yourself.

But as for the rest of Lent, do you give anything up? We weren’t really raised to do it as necessary. I’ve done it in years past, but I haven’t thought of anything in particular yet for this year. Sound off below if you do, and maybe it will inspire me! I think the point is that whatever you give up (or if you like to add something in) it should point you back towards God. Maybe shopping is a good option to give up temporarily!

In the meantime, we’ve still got some really good stuff coming up to share with you! Like I mentioned in last week’s Real Tall Find’s Friday, we’re in that grey space between Winter and Spring. You want to start brightening up your wardrobe and pulling out your lighter options, but the weather isn’t cooperating yet. For me in particular, I like to get creative with always having some brighter colored sweaters I can reach for as the weather begrudgingly changes.

One of the biggest trends I’ve noticed while online shopping, are the incredible sleeve details. Whether it’s a puff sleeve or volume sleeve, it’s a great time to be alive (if you’re like me). I’m not a super big print person, so I like to add details with the cut of the fabric and/or the color selection. This sweater has both. It’s a romantic ginger color and the puff sleeves are totally my jam, as well as the sweetheart neckline. It’s super soft and a slightly cropped cut on my 6’4 frame. I’m wearing it in a size medium and I’d call it true to size.

As for the jeans, I’ve long been a fan of Express’ denim. They make a perfect curvy cut and don’t leave any gaping at the waistband. I have had a regular blue jean version of button-front jeans from Gap and wanted to try a grey pair as well because I get so much use out of them. They are ankle length, for anyone wondering about the length. I like some of my jeans to be cut a bit shorter for my higher ankle booties. I’m wearing a size 10L. There are very limited sizes left in that specific pair of jeans but if you’re a 00L or 18L it’s your lucky day because they are only $19.97! You can’t beat that for a pair of jeans.

I paired it with my snakeskin booties, which were a Nordstrom Rack find and no longer available. I did find a pair that goes up to size 13 on Amazon and are linked, here. Plus they are under $50, so definitely check them out, if you’ve been on the hunt.

Sound off below, how do you figure out how to dress for this grey season between Winter and Spring?
