Swimsuit shopping can be the worst. Add a long torso and it only gets harder! We both typically grab for a two piece but one of our roles as tall fashion bloggers is to try and grab as much research and intel as we can in all realms and needs. We know a lot of women, especially now, are grabbing for one piece swimsuits. In the past few years we have tried and returned so many, whether they were too short, too cheeky, too chesty or something else. We were like Goldilocks and they just weren’t quite right.
As the hunt continued, we were excited to see an Instagram pop up for Longpiece saying coming soon. It has been fun to watch this brand build itself from the ground up. And now we are lucky enough to try and review all of the Longpiece tall swimsuits for you! We are going to walk you through some of our favorite features of these suits.
The fabric and material is unmatched to any other suit we have tried. Most brands use one layer of lycra swimwear fabric paired with a cheaper lining. Longpiece tall swimsuits use two layers of high-quality Italian lycra instead which gives you the feeling that the fabric is thicker and more luxurious. And to make it even better it really holds you in and smoothes everything over. We can only assume this will help the suit hold up better over time as well. We hate when that cheap inner lining stretches out and peaks out of the swimsuit.
Not only is the fabric wonderfully thick it is also eco-friendly made from recycled and regenerated ocean waste (so cool!!) such as fishing nets. And to complete the eco friendliness they also ship in compostable packaging from the liners and stickers to the mailer. We love a company who doesn’t take short cuts. And if that isn’t enough to sell you, the fabric is also ultra chlorine and sunblock resistant and provides UPF 50+ protection.
The fabric, thread, bra cups, tags and everything else is sourced locally to the founder (In Australia). The pattern-maker and manufacturer are also both local family businesses. With no fashion background working with a family friendly business in person was a no brainer to help them land on the perfect fit.
The only thing left is the why behind Longpiece? It takes us back to the beginning-the market for long torso suits just does not exist. She wanted to create simple, sexy, swimsuits that show just enough while keeping you comfortable. The two of us love the neutral colorways she chose. And as two girls with a little extra in the bum we are thankful for the perfect amount of coverage that doesn’t slip.
We got all three of the suits in a size large and it was the great choice for us. And now as a personal review from taking these suits with us on our recent trip to Mexico: I think the fit is slightly different between the Staple (square neck) one piece and the Basic and One Shoulder. It seemed to have slightly less stretch, so if you’re between sizes we’d advise you to size up. The suits are a nice thick fabric that will help hold you in! So this means that although stretchy, it doesn’t leave a lot of room for sizing differences. We always encourage you to read the size charts and reviews if applicable (beyond just ours).
We hope you love them as much as we do- you can shop all three of them here. And use code THEREALTALL15 for 15% off of your purchase.
