American Tall Has it ALL
Well, it has been a lonnggg time since we made a new blog post, what better reason than to share American Tall? This will probably be one of, if not the very last post as well. We aren’t giving up sharing our tall fashion finds; but with life being very busy and us both holding down full time jobs, we don’t have time to post on multiple places. I absolutely miss creating these posts but something’s got to give. If you’ve only been following along on here, we hope you will find us either on Facebook and/or Instagram.
Welcome to the Holiday Season! Is anyone else starting to feel overwhelmed with decorating, baking, traveling, shopping, gift wrapping? We feel you and we empathize with all of the effects of holiday burnout. However, the good news is we want to try and take some of the stress away by helping you shop intentionally and with purpose for all holiday events. Both of us have become much smarter shoppers since the beginning of this blog and it shows. We are overall more satisfied with our purchases, the cost per wear ratio is way down since we are grabbing for our well fitting clothing so much more often. And we can mix and match so easily to create different looks for any event!
Back to the good stuff, today’s post is all about American Tall! If you recall, we first shared about them roughly two years ago. Check out the blog post here. Since we first shared, they have only improved their offerings for tall women and we are living for it! We are thrilled to be partnering with them today to share some of their latest and most exciting drops with you. How confident are we in American Tall? After sending us some gifted pieces, we turned around and lit up our wallets on Black Friday, so you will get to see even more goodies in today’s post.
Tall Faux Leather Pants
Possibly the most fun piece of clothing they have offered thus far, but I could be biased! As soon as I spotted these on the American Tall site, I knew I had to have them. When they arrived, it was a little intimidating because I wanted them to work SO BAD. But once I slipped them on, I was thrilled! They are buttery, with a bit of stretch to them. I went with a size 31 waist 37 inseam. The straight leg cut is ideal, AND they thankfully skim over any trouble spots. I would definitely say they are true to size.
Tall Travel Pants
Another amazing, thoughtful piece that we absolutely NEED as tall women. That’s the sign of a great retailer when you open their site and see a piece you’re missing from your closet. When I’m traveling with my family I tend towards leggings and pretty casual. But when we are traveling more for work or a larger group, it’s nice to look a bit more pulled together. The true win of this pant design? You look polished while still maintaining comfort.
The elastic wide waistband moves with you, and the pants also have a bit of stretch to them. I got the 10 Extra Tall length. They are supposed to hit at the ankle and they perfectly do! I am not always a huge fan of the “jogger” band at the ankle and I love that these pants are just a tapered fit. The fabric has a slight sheen to them that I’d argue you could pull off as work pants in a cinch if you covered the waistband!
Tall Crewneck Bodysuits – Long Sleeve and Sleeveless
This long sleeve white bodysuit is perfect to wear alone as it is double lined, body contouring and looks extremely crisp and professional. Both of us tried this on and it fit well. Jenilee would consider possibly sizing up one for a little bit of extra room. I am so impressed with the quality of these bodysuits though. They put other body contour items to shame. When I am wanting more of a shell I toss on the sleeveless black one for a base layer. I love how nice it looks tucked in with a blazer. For reference I am wearing a MT in the black and white bodysuit, Jenilee would likely get a medium extra tall for a bit more length!
Tall Flannel Button Up
Y’all. I had given up on flannels. Honestly. For years I bought inexpensive flannels from Old Navy and made them work on me only to throw them out after a couple of years. Why?? The fit was ALWAYS off. The body too large, the shoulders slightly pulling, and the sleeves inches too short. It wasn’t even just Old Navy doing me dirty on fit. It was other tall retailers who I relied on for many other items of clothing. I’ve maintained a strong distrust of any retailer fitting my tall body type properly.
But this Flannel? It felt like coming home. I don’t want to get too dramatic, but I believe you can see the fantastic fit for yourself. I’m wearing a Large Extra Tall. The sleeve length?! A thing of beauty. The shoulder fit? Completely comfortable and zero pulling. The tapered body fit so you actually look like a female? Everything I need. It’s available in multiple cute prints as well.
Tall Button Front Mock Neck Sweater
From the moment this burnt orange beauty was blasted in their email we both knew it was coming home with us. The color, the style, the comfort. I received the orange one and it was so nice I bought it twice in the other colorway. It is buttery soft, fits wonderfully, pairs all with dress pants, jeans, or leggings. They also offer this in extra tall for those who are even more vertically blessed than myself.
For reference I am wearing the MT
Tall Juniper Green Sweat Suit – Half Zip Pullover
If you read or reread our original American Tall post, you’d recognize their sweat suits as the original piece I chose! The quality has held up quite well over the years for me. As someone who spent a large portion of her formative years in sweats while in between playing basketball, I just don’t want to shake the habit on my off hours spent at home. So I came back for more well-fitting quality! I ordered this zip up pullover in size large extra tall, and the sweatpants in a medium extra tall knowing the sweatpants are an oversized fit (The grey original pair I am wearing in large). To match the fit of the cropped pullover, I wanted this pair to fit a bit closer! I’m very happy with my sizing choice.
Tall Slim Leg Dress Pant
Do you recall in Elf when Buddy says “You did it! Congratulations! World’s best cup of coffee! Great job, everybody! It’s great to be here.” That’s how I would explain these work slacks. They did it, they made the world’s best pair of dress pants. Not only do they come in three different colors, two inseams, and a plethora of sizes but they have the utmost comfort. They are perfectly stretchy without losing their shape and size. They maintain their color pigment through washes. I wore these to work 6 times in my first two weeks owning them. Highly recommend these for any of our tall working ladies. I often pair these pants with a bodysuit either on its own or with a blazer/sweater over it.
For reference I am wearing the 12T in the pants
Tall Tanks
These tanks were on sale for right under $5, so this was a no brainer to me to snatch up a few colors. I prefer to wear more colorful shorts in the Summer, so I’m always looking for more neutral tanks. I’ve spent wasted enough money over the years on tanks that truly do not fit me and end up ridding my closet of them at each purge. Sensing a theme here? I bought medium tall in black, latte, and clay sunrise. I don’t think I needed an extra tall as the length of these tanks is perfect. It doesn’t cover my butt, which I think makes a tank too long but is plenty long to tuck in comfortably. Plus they look and feel luxe, not like some tanks that you’d only be comfortable seeing a peek of.
