Does a week pass by without us wearing one item of clothing from Tall Long & Curvy? Never in recent memory. Since her launch, TLC has been going from strength to strength creating magnificent leggings that fit our bodies ideally well. Plus, they are buttery soft fabric that I can actually stand to wear all day long. We all have pairs of amazing workout leggings that we’re ready to peel off unless we’re actually doing a workout. Not the case with our TLC leggings. Somehow they are a buttery soft fabric that still has the perfect amount of spandex to workout comfortably and effectively.

When Chelsey said she was designing tall yoga pants, we were definitely intrigued. We both have had yoga pants in the past that allllmost fit right. But give the problem to be solved by someone who actually gets the pain of ill-fitting clothing. Of course she comes up with another winner with her Tall Long and Curvy yoga pants.

First off, we are the biggest fans of tall retailers offering two inseams, being that we’re two ends of the tall clothing spectrum. I want Caitlin to find her perfect inseam and she wants the same for me. One size doesn’t fit all with inseams and the more retailers can understand that, the happier the customer!

Secondly, we knew this fabric would be a bit different than the black leggings we know and love (check out where our love for TLC began, here). Although we adore that magical fabric, you don’t need the same type for tall yoga pants as when we’re sweating through another Burn class. The Tall Long and Curvy yoga pants are arguably as soft as the leggings! They also are more of a luxe look that you can easily wear without anyone questioning if you’re heading to the gym later.

Lastly, while we both love a flare silhouette, it can often end up unbalancing our athletic thighs. My favorite pairs of flares are always when the fabric is tight through the knee. WINNER WINNER on these tall yoga pants!

I’d also be remiss if I didn’t mention how TLC excels at providing an actual high rise. Given that I received these while I was well over midway through my pregnancy I expected that to feel lacking. Now that I’ve tried on my first pair of actual maternity denim (from Elevated Closet), I can attest to how well the yoga pants still cover my bump!

So with all those specs in mind, how can you not want your own pair of TLC yoga pants?! Caitlin and I both got Mediums and although we started off ordering Large for their leggings (which still work) we have since sized down to Medium for a bit more compression. Although worth mentioning that I’ve been able to wear my Large leggings all through 33 weeks of pregnancy very comfortably. It’s magic, I’m telling you.

PLUS, TLC is offering buy 2 pairs of pants, get 1 free enter code SPRING at the checkout. You’ll want every single pair once you try them, like we basically have filled our closets no exaggeration. Check them out for yourself and as always, happy to answer any sizing questions to help order!

I think we can all relate to the struggles of denim buying. Which is why we wanted to compile a post that contains our favorite tall denim, for your shopping ease. We usually sprinkle our favorites throughout other posts and you get the gist by seeing how often they’re repeated. Lets take out the mathematician’s work of you adding that up and we’ll just lay it out for you our favorite tall denim as easy as we can!

The average sized woman doesn’t typically love shopping for jeans. Then you add in our longer inseams and different thigh lengths, knee placements, and butt lengths and you create a new adventure level to master finding your favorite tall denim. Plus you cross reference retailers and they are talking about their “high-waisted” denim at 9 inch rise versus another who claims 11 inch rise for high rise. It can be a recipe for disaster if you aren’t reading the specifications of the products verrrryyy carefully.

I’ve become a master of reading EVERY. LITTLE. DETAIL., so I know as much as possible to avoid disappointing surprises on the backend. That means reviews too. I’m scouring through those to see what issues people found with the product and if they are a one-off or it’s universally agreed upon dislike. Are they running true to size? If you haven’t ordered from the brand before, strongly consider taking your measurements to compare to their size chart.

With that in mind, know what you like! If you have a tried and true pair that is high rise, compare the rise with that pair. Are you comfortable with a looser thigh or do you feel like it adds too much volume. Same with extra fabric around the waist. We always like to compare the size/shape/height of the model if possible for similarities or differences in how it could fit us. Some websites are better than others at listing specifications and various models. Every little bit will help with finding your favorite tall denim.

So that’s just a semi-brief overview of mindset while we shop. Plus we typically run it by each other for extra feedback/encouragement as well. Couldn’t recommend having a shopping buddy more. If you can’t find one, feel free to DM us questions and we’re always happy to help the best we can! Now onto some of our favorite tall denim!

Amalli Talli

Not new to the blog by any means, but they keep improving and dropping new denim colors and cuts as their initial offerings have been so well received. It never hurts that they consider all the minute details that make for a well-fitting denim. They also offer two different inseams so they fit small-tall’s AND tall-tall’s as we like to call them! Check out our two posts on their different styles here and here.

At Last

While only Caitlin has tried At Last denim so far, I am counting down to the postpartum days of getting my hands on my own pair. Based on the amount of times she has already worn them since receiving them I feel confident telling you you need them too. They are sustainably made, perfectly stretchy while maintaining their shape, an excellent high raise and overall just wonderfully made. You can check her full review here.

American Eagle

While the strange debate(??) rages on over whether to cancel skinny jeans, we will continue to wear any cut of denim that fits us well. American Eagle fits the bill for us and our curvy butt/thigh area in both their skinny jeans AND our beloved stretch curvy mom jeans. Plus, they have a great selection of sizes and inseams. If I’m keeping it real, I still think they could benefit from one more inseam length beyond extra long. However, I will still continue to order and wear my XL length gladly, especially for an inexpensive denim option!

Height of Fashion

Another amazing tall small business that has been providing us with well-fitting denim for years now. Height of Fashion was the first pair of denim that I felt the knee rips were in the appropriate place without feeling I had to pull to adjust. It was an exciting time for me! Their jeans have a great stretch to them without stretching out. Plus, she’s expanded her selection and now offers both a boyfriend cut AND a mom jean that look amazing.

Gap

Aside from Buckle, there was not a long list of places to shop for jeans while I was in high school. However, unlike Buckle (which has done limited evolving), Gap has kept up with trends while still making some really solid classic jeans. I’m partial to their skinny jeans, as I still believe some of their other cuts run too short for my inseam. Caitlin really enjoys their Cigarette cut, for a different silhouette.

Old Navy

If you find your head constantly turned by the “new” trends popping up season after season, Old Navy is a great spot to find tall denim. They are typically under $40 and offer tons of different cuts, styles and colors in their tall inseam. I have had a pair of flare jeans from there (with my 38 inseam) that made it to the floor so that should vouch for their styles having adequate length. The only thing worth mentioning is maybe that their knee placement ends up a little high on us both.

ASOS

Another place to shop if you need reasonable denim options. We’ve worn their skinny jeans for years now. The inseam is there, the sizing can be a bit erratic and the fit isn’t always ideal for our curvier shapes (IE the thigh/waist fit matching up). They do offer two inseams in a lot of their denim. If you branch out into some of their other brands we’ve found some great pairs as well!

Express

On the shorter end of what we’d consider tall, I’ve been wearing Express denim since I worked there in college. If you’re taller than Caitlin at 5’11, I’d tell you to beware their ankle length denim. It ends up being more of a midi dress length. However, they have perfected their stretch and added a curvy fit so some of my favorite pairs are still from there because they don’t gap at the waistband.

Lands End – Tall “Maternity”

Although they are not actually maternity jeans, I have been living in the elastic waisted pairs my Mom found on the clearance rack in the store. They provide a great variety of denim options both with and without elastic waist. They also have two inseams, which always is a win in our book. Check out my maternity write up here.

Elevated Closet – Maternity

We’ve shared Elevated Closet’s crossover clothing long before I became pregnant. I have a pair of the updated maternity denim coming in the mail to try this week and I cannot wait to share them with you all. That is one of the most often requested pieces of maternity clothing. She added an extra inch of fabric for the perfect length of 37 inch inseam for a bootcut style. Look for our review post on their denim coming soon.

Alloy Apparel

Since switching over to being exclusively for tall women (which is EPIC because that never happens), Alloy has continued to evolve and offer some really great standard styles while also adding in some fun updated cuts to keep tall women on trend. We particularly love their twill fabric pants, like the ones Caitlin is wearing below. They have great stretch to them but still look like you’re trying!

Madewell

On the more expensive end of the denim we typically buy, lies Madewell. I was lucky enough to find my first pair for like $40 on clearance but they typically start upwards of $90+. It seems like they have diminishing options in their taller inseam which is what fits my 6’4 frame well. They also do just tall inseam which has fit Caitlin quite well! Pay close attention to the item description because some of their denim fit doesn’t stretch and some has ridiculously good stretch to it. Also pay attention to their rise, if you have strong preferences!

The following companies offer tall denim, however, we cannot speak to the fit or quality ourselves yet:

And as an added bonus to this denim post if you are looking for pants that aren’t necessarily denim related we would like to suggest:

Tall Long Curvy: Tall leggings, Yoga Pants and Biker Shorts

HOF: Tall tracksuit and Pajama Pants

Amalli Talli: Tall loungewear and joggers

ASOS: Tall Joggers, Pajamas, fun statement work pants

Gap: Joggers

The Sixes NYC: The Most incredible statement pants

TJL Collection: for iconic prints and pantsuits!

Bralette: https://rstyle.me/+ohhxvuihsYJzecbFFx3GRw

This matching waffle sweat suit is on repeat for the rest of my days. So comfy and chic!

I love the slightly oversized fit and the drop sleeve that Gap does so well!

The perfect green color and the ideal slouchy fit. I will be wearing this in the Spring and Fall on repeat!

These work pants hit at the perfect spot on me at 5’11, so might not recommend for anyone over 6’0? More pictures with this post!

A very lightweight funnel neck long sleeve. We typically vacillate between medium and large for their tops.

We hope you appreciated our round up of our Gap 2021 Friends and Family tall finds! Typically we find so many tall options at Gap, but a good sale price always makes the shopping that much better. Happy Shopping.

I have a confession. I can no longer fit into my regular jeans anymore. Ok haha that was many weeks ago at this point and very unsurprising. Leading up to it, I was VERY concerned about how to proceed from there. The only pair of leggings I had found were see through. Plus they are thin enough that even wearing two pairs wouldn’t keep me warm enough in this cold snap. Also, despite our best efforts of polling other tall women on Instagram, the diminishing options were alarming. Especially with retailers who had been champions for tall maternity in the past. Luckily, I’ve found a new champion, tall elastic waistband jeggings!

These belly band button extenders have been working quite well on days I didn’t want to give up on my current jeans. If you are pregnant and trying to prolong the life of your regular clothing, I highly recommend these as an inexpensive option

But alas, they still do have their drawbacks. You can wear the smaller button or it jumps to a larger bump option with nothing for the in between. It also requires you to wear a long top/sweater to cover your zipper area. Lastly, it looks a little bulky if you’re wearing something tighter. Your zipper isn’t made to lie flat when it’s not zipped.

So suffice to say, you’ll most likely need another option if you’d like to wear something other than leggings to the end of your pregnancy! I know many women say their appreciation for their Mom rises to another level as you become a mother yourself. I’m already quite grateful, as she introduced me to these tall elastic waistband jeggings that have been my saving grace as I hit the 3rd trimester!

Although we have long loved and worn their tall jackets (for many years at this point), we haven’t talked much about Lands End on the blog. Beyond including them on our Tall Clothing Directory, which you can check out here. We’ve definitely sent many of you shopping there while on the hunt for warm tall winter coats. What we had never shopped before, was their denim!

My Mom showed up with a couple of their tall elastic waistband jeggings back in January. She found them in store on clearance and thought they were worth snagging for me to check out. The rest is history after I slipped them on. The length is perfect and the waistband has the room to accommodate my growing bump.

The blue jean pair is a size 12 Tall. I would say the rise would be considered mid, so as the bump grows it has still fit over it but maybe eventually I would push it to be worn more underneath. The black pair she only found in size 18 Tall so I will easily be able to wear them over the top of the bump until the end. She also found a pair of these straight leg midrise jeans also with the elastic waistband. They are a little shorter than I would hope for Tall inseam (33.5 inches) but I will be able to wear rolled up with ankle boots and as the weather gets warmer just have a bare ankle.

The blue jeans definitely feel like typical jeggings where they have stretch but are still comfortable. The black jeggings feel like more of a twill fabric and although I am wearing the wrong size I think they feel like they have a bit more stretch than the blue pair. The best news is that Lands End offers two inseam options for their jeans either 34 or 36 inches! Lastly, the straight leg jeggings literally feel like butter, more like a pair of soft leggings.

As I was browsing, I also noticed they have tall elastic waist tapered trouser options. Although the inseam is only 30 inches for tall (which isn’t that awesome), I’d be interested in giving these a shot especially as the temperatures rise and we don’t need to wear socks all the time. I’d also be remiss in mentioning they have some tall pajama options. That’s one of the regular questions we receive and there are not a plethora of options out there! Again, clocking in at 32-33 inches for inseam isn’t ideal, but it would cover some of you small talls!

If you haven’t shopped Land’s End regardless of if you’re expecting, you owe yourself at least a browse! They have a ton of options, whether you need tall tops, jackets, workout clothing, or tall swimsuits! Plus, we love that they operate out of Wisconsin! Let us know what you think below and any questions on sizing etc.

“At last

My love has come along

My lonely days are over

And life is like a song

Oh, yeah, yeah, at last

The skies above are blue

My heart was wrapped up in clover

The night I looked at you”

Etta James

Okay, okay, I know you all might think I am inane for relating those lyrics to a pair of denim. However, when you are part of the long limbed club you understand that it really, truly, can feel like the clouds cleared up and finally found the blue skies you were looking for (or tall denim). I know we can sound like a broken record in regards to limited options, the fit still being off when it comes to certain brands, and the lack of trendy pieces. Unfortunately that’s because we are still facing this problem on a day to day basis. Enter At Last Tall Denim!

As some of you may have seen on our Instagram story last week we shared again how Poshmark still doesn’t have a tall range filter even though they have petite, plus, and maternity. It blows our mind and makes us so sad that in this world where being inclusive is constantly preached about we are somehow still ostracized. Are there not enough tall women? Seriously, what needs to change to make it more of a norm?

I will hop off my soapbox and dive head first into this new to the blog brand: At Last Denim. Jenilee and I usually race each other in who can share a new tall brand with the first. Usually we find out via a new page discreetly showing up and following us on Instagram. We then proceed to stalk the new page waiting to see the new goodies in store for us. And then we always feel blessed when we can get in touch with any new brand that aligns with us and create a collaboration to share them with you!

We got in touch with Ashley the founder of At Last Denim to see if our brands aligned for a collaboration and indeed we did. Like me, Ashley is 5’11. She has struggled like all of us to find clothing that fits correctly. At Last Denim is sustainable(!) including skipping tags because they are trash anyways. All of their fabrics come from farms and factories that have adopted sustainable practices. They also practice eco-friendly washing techniques that save 70% of water that is traditionally used in denim manufacturing. They also use waterless bleaching which reduces chemical use by 80%. Lastly, all of their labels are made with organic cotton and the packaging is made from 100% recycled materials. We applaud her for making all of this happen because it’s not easy to start a company (especially a tall denim company), and keep it sustainable.

When we chatted with Ashley she mentioned that her company has been in the works for over four years. Ironically she picked the name without knowing what a long journey it would be to get this dreamy denim into production. The two of us are so excited that this tall denim is finally on the market. And also so excited to have another small tall company entering the playing field. We are also so thankful she is open to crowdsourcing. So if you have anything you are dying to see feel free to share it because the people wearing this tall denim are the ones who represent this company!

Finally let’s dive into the fit. I went with the No. 1 – Acid Wash found here.  I am wearing the size 29×35. Typically I would be a 33 inch inseam but they were sold out and I needed to have these jeans in my closet ASAP! They still work wonderfully. They have a long torso approved high rise that is 4” higher in the back than the front. I am not exaggerating when I say wearing these feel like leggings because they are so comfortable. They are made with T400 fibers that give you a more durable stretch while still retaining maximum recovery. The raw edge and ripped knees have me swooning.

When we were first browsing the website I knew immediately which pair I needed. Both of us were laughing because Jenilee called out the exact pair before I could even say it. Sister things. We all know I love a good grunge/edgy look.

I went ahead and styled these a handful of ways to give you a good idea of how many possibilities there are with these jeans!

Look #1/2/3

If you want to go for an edgier look throw on a destroyed or band tee and some combat boots. For a mildly edgy look you can try a turtleneck and blazer also with combat boots.

Look #4

If you are more into the basics you can’t go wrong with AF1s (or any white sneakers) with a plain white tee. Add on a sherpa jacket or shacket to add some warmth for winter. That look will never go out of style!

Look #5

For another pretty classic look I tossed on a chunky sweater with some snakeskin booties.

Look #6

And for the most timeless look of them all I went with a button down white blouse and my favorite Coix heels.

If the combination of all those stylings don’t prove how versatile these jeans are I am not sure what will! I could keep raving about these jeans but I think y’all get the point. Check out Jenilee’s pair, here. As always we encourage you to shop small and support out small business tall retailers. Especially right out of the door so they can continue to expand for us. If you have any sizing or general questions drop a comment below, email, or DM us on Instagram!
