High on the list of tall girls’ most needed items, is a work wardrobe. Obviously not every woman will need business professional pieces, but we’ve heard enough pleas for where to shop loud and clear! Obviously it’s an odd time in the United States and most of the world, with COVID continuing it’s spread and keeping most of us on lockdown. We’ve at least transitioned part-time back to being in office and are super excited to introduce you to a new tall brand, Tall Moi!

Tall Moi is founded by Bukola Bankole, for the reason most tall companies begin: solving our fashion problems for lack of choice. Why should it be so difficult for tall women to create a wardrobe, especially one professionally? It is an inevitable part of our adult lives to have to own clothing you can wear in a job setting. I distinctly recall having to dress up for basketball game days in high school and whining to my Mom about a lack of options. We are lucky to have a Mom who gets it, as she is 6’2 as well!

The secondary part of that is having updated “cool and current” workwear. As a teenager, I liked my Mom’s wardrobe, but I liked it for her, not me! Later, as I began my career, her wardrobe was there to save me until I could afford to build my own. So for those game days, I wore too-short skirts and the same culottes (then referred to as gauchos just to age myself), to get by and fit in.

Plus if you’re a potentially still growing teen, it’s difficult to pay a premium for the few option dress pants available. Knowing they might not fit for long makes deal hunting critical! That is why Tall Moi is so GENIUS! Founded with the idea of meeting fashion needs for tall women, we have to agree they are doing just that! They have designed reversible capsule wardrobes and we’re so excited to share them with you.

Business wear is tough enough to find pieces in your length. Now you can buy one pair of pants and get two! The Brook Herringbone/Green Slim Pants are such a fun yet classic addition to our closets. No longer do you have to get by with your boring options at some of the larger retailers who provide options in only black and navy. If you travel for work, it suddenly makes your packing a breeze. Just turn the pants or dress to the other side and it’s a fresh look!

Tall Moi is doing their part to make sustainable fashion a reality for us, and we’re here for it. As two women who love fashion and creating new and unique looks for the office, the versatility of their pieces is a must for our closet. So now instead of having to shop for an additional piece, we can create double the looks with one piece of clothing. Like we said before, complete genius.

The clothing is made of polyester/spandex/rayon and skims our bodies in a feminine yet professional way. Another thing we love about Tall Moi is the clothing is designed to be seasonless. Meaning you can wear it throughout the whole year! As Wisconsinites can attest, we have many pieces in our wardrobes we have to switch out depending on the season. Obviously this can add up quickly in building a work wardrobe.

You can invest in any of these pieces, knowing that you will be able to wear year-round. Like the Geena Reversible Ponte Sheath. Cut for our tall bodies, they thoughtfully designed it three quarter length sleeves. We all are subjected to the office’s arctic air conditioning temperatures in the summer months, so we definitely are never searching for sleeveless options to wear there! Plus we love the piping detail down the front, as it draws the eye downward and therefore creates a slimming effect.

You’re going to be so happy to add these pieces to your wardrobe! If you check out Tall Moi’s website they have a ton more info on their design process and not contributing to fast fashion. We feel lucky to be able to introduce you to these exciting pieces that will be timeless pieces in your closet and will ultimately save you from wasting money elsewhere!

For sizing info, we’re both wearing a size large in the dress and the pants. If you’re in between sizes we’d say size down. There isn’t a ton of stretch to the pants, however, there is more for the dress! As always, we’re happy to answer any other questions you might have.

Check out Tall Moi’s website, here!

This post has been a long time in the works, and we’re sorry for the delay! With COVID, this has been one wacky/rough year. I think we’re all in agreement about that. A long time ago now, we had some requests for where to find tall/long swimsuits. So better late than never, we hope? Swimsuit shopping is hard enough for most women, and then you add the stress of not having a fraction of the options that mainline retailers offer.

Enter Fig Leaves! No more do we have to wonder where we can find well-fitting swimsuits. They have an incredible selection of suits in longer length. Both of us can verify, the length works well and will even work for taller than 6’4 because I didn’t even have to adjust the length like I normally would!

Not to mention, we don’t have to worry about the suit doing the dreaded pull that ill-fitting one pieces do when you’re trying to stretch them long enough. You know the one, where your boobs are pancaked flat and there is no delineation or curve. It’s an easy tell for women who are just doing their best with what they can find. Well we’re here to relieve you of that issue.

Check out how well these suits hug our curves! The natural waist is *gasp* in the actual spot where my natural waist is. For Caitlin, she doesn’t have to size up to ensure her boobs are adequately covered/not falling out. Shop her suit, here. All of this sounds like silly regular stuff, but believe us, they have been sticking points in our search for one piece suits over the years.

In fact, it has completely deterred us from wearing one piece swimming suits. We’ve been pretty much bikini girls since we hit puberty and left the tankinis behind. While we will never transition fully to one or the other, I can tell you with complete sincerity that I’ve never felt as good wearing a one piece suit as I did when I put this polka dot beauty on from Figleaves! Shop my suit, here.

The other part we’ve historically struggled with (on any swimsuit) is the butt coverage. If you do too little, it leaves us feeling rather European and exposed. If you overdo it, all of a sudden we’re feeling matronly. We are both like Goldilocks, wanting just the right amount of butt cheek to be shared.  Again, Figleaves manages to check the box. Walking around in these suits, they don’t ride up and need to be constantly adjusted.

The price ranges from $40-$135, so there’s sure to be a suit that will fit your budget. They are high quality suits so if you spend a bit more than you typically might, feel confident in your purchase! Their styles are all timeless and classic, yet current! We have a wide range of followers searching for suits and we honestly feel like there is something for everyone.

Lastly, I know one of the most underrepresented groups are tall plus sized women. We’re super happy to share that they go up to size 22 Long! We’re both wearing size 12 L and feel like their sizing is spot on.

So if you haven’t heard of Figleaves before today, go shopping! Summer is running out and you need a suit that you can feel confident in ASAP. We’ve seen this repeated many times now, but it bears repeating. If you’re trying to figure out how to get your beach body ready; step 1 go put on a swimming suit you love. Step 2, go enjoy yourself because there is no such thing as needing to have a “beach body!”

Maybe you’re following Amalli Talli as closely as we do. Competing to open their stories first and drop the latest news on each other. “Did you see that maxi dress?!” “Did you see those shorts?!” is a typical conversation between Caitlin and I on google hangouts. Catching the sneak peeks of future drops as soon as we can is the name of the game, and we are dang good if I do say so myself.

When we caught wind of some leggings in the works, you could call us hooked! Our moto leggings are in heavy rotation in our closets. The extra details make them special, like the ankle cuff and the wide waistband, as well as the moto knee. They’re simultaneously easy to wear while also being a standout piece. These ladies know how to design a pair of pants.

Now they’re trying their hand at faux leather leggings, and we are living for it. We’ve long considered grabbing a pair of the Spanx version but just never pulled the trigger. Now we know why! By now, you know how important it is to support companies that make actual tall women’s clothing. If we’ve learned one thing from Long Tall Sally’s closure, it’s vote with your dollars and vote for quality tall clothing.

We can strongly attest to Amalli Talli being both high quality and well-fitting for our long bodies. Never have we had to question our shape/size based on one of their pieces, as we’ve done many times in the past while shopping mainline stores. That includes not having to “size up” in hopes of adding extra length. It’s a shopping sesh you can come away from feeling really good about yourself.

These leggings are like magic and you need to get yourself a pair. They’re workout friendly if you so choose, but we see ourselves rocking them more for an athleisure vibe or maybe a night out if we’re feeling sassy! We’re both wearing in size Large, which is the same size we have the moto leggings in. Also worth noting we normally wear a size US 10/12 in most other pants.

Plus, you’re getting these leggings for less than a pair of the competitor’s brand, that may or may not be long enough. I think enough is said right there. Why spend more money on a worse-fitting pair of leggings? Sounding like common sense to us to go with Amalli Talli!

We love that there is a fun sheen to these as well. I can always use a little sparkle in my life, and this version is so tasteful. The best part is how the leggings show off your ass-ets… erm your assets I meant. While hugging your curves to perfection, they still manage to gloss over any of our less desirable areas we might not want attention called to.

Lastly, we cannot forget to mention that they’re dropping a camo pair as well! You know camo tops our favorite prints, so they are an absolute must for our closet. Camo is a seemingly easy print to do, but I’m constantly surprised by how many retailers versions I hate. Amalli Talli once again for the win, but we aren’t surprised considering how good their grey shorts version is! If you haven’t snatched those up yet, you also should just click add to cart.

With all of that said, we’re both feeling really encouraged after making our list of tall retailers. It would be easy to get super anxious about where you can possibly find clothing that fits your tall body. Hone in on some of these smaller tall businesses, because they are coming through with some ridiculously good new items, like these leggings! As we buy, they’ll be able to provide expanded selections. Let us know what you think of these leggings in the comments below or if you snatched them up like us right away!

Today is just a sneak peak but the leggings drop Thursday, so get ready to shop!

Long Tall Sally is Closing… What Now?

The dust is settling on the sad news we received about Long Tall Sally closing its doors after 45 years of serving us with long inseams, generous shoulder widths, and a large variety of stylish shoes for bigger feet. We have seen the heartbreak spread like wildfire through all of the buy, sell trade Facebook groups as well as our through blog audience. We are living in this sadness with you and understand the fears many women have going forward with so many gaps still remaining in tall fashion.

Which brings us to today’s blog post. We have spent hours and we mean HOURS researching, shopping, trying on, and exploring tall brands across the web and we have done our very best to compile a comprehensive list of some of our favorite places to buy necessities you may need. The lists below are in no particular order.

We hope that this not only helps settle some of your fears of Long Tall Sally closing but also introduces you to some new brands you may not have otherwise known about. If we missed anywhere that you have shopped and had luck please let us know with a comment below, an email, DM or comment so we can add to this list and make it as accurate and big as possible for our tall fam! If you have any questions after perusing the list, please drop them in the comments below.

We have been busy compiling a list of Black owned businesses and a short write up of each to let you know what they offer! If you’re in a place to support any of these businesses by making a purchase, there are no shortage of options for you to choose from! We’re over here influencing ourselves into making purchases as well. We’ve attached the pictures we have with our items of clothing but as you can tell, there is much more to fill in!

CoIX Shoes – If you’re in need of some seriously quality, classic shoes, you need to check out CoIX (pronounced coy). I have their Dalston boots in Cognac and they are comfortable, and go with everything!

Tall Society – You’ve probably heard of the Tall Society tall brunches at this point. We’re anxious to attend one when Covid stops thwarting our lives, but did you know they also have a bunch of fun merchandise with cheeky sayings, including coffee mugs and beach towels?? That just moved high up my list of must haves, the “yes I did play basketball towel,” or maybe you’d prefer the “no” option!

Height Goddess – We have tried out their sweatshirts and t-shirts and can attest to the high quality fabric, as well as the perfect proportions for our length! Plus everyone needs a cheeky graphic shirt that speaks for you! Check out our post on Height Goddess, here for more.

The Sixes – A collection of utterly divine satin and statement pants with customized lengths up to 40”. They take your dressing to a seriously luxe look. We’ve been salivating over these pants since their launch and can’t wait to get our hands on them!

Tall Long & Curvy – If you haven’t heard us singing the praises of these incredible leggings since they launched, you’re probably not following us. She’s launching them in new colors and we basically need any and all of them. See our blog post on these fab leggings, here.

Talle Apparel – We are living for their matching sets! I know a lot of our followers want to be able to follow trends and Talle has some perfectly trendy dresses and matching sets. Plus their pricing is reasonable as well.

Glamazon Boutique – There are some seriously cute options at this boutique. A couple of fun pants, a midi skirt and a classic jumpsuit! We’ve got to help these startup boutiques so they can continue to stock more and more options.

We Exist Inc – Self described as tall streetwear, I have been digging their Instagram lives in the morning for a dose of positivity. Brand new tall brand as well, they offer jogger sets and graphic t-shirts. Plus they go up all the way up to 39.5” inseams, so we’ll all be covered and then some.

Tall Moi – If you’re bemoaning the lack of options for workwear, you NEED to check out Tall Moi. They do reversible options for both pants and dresses. How genius is that?! Their pants are up to 35” inseam but some options are skinny leg.

Nineth Closet – You can find some serious variety at Nineth Closet. They have some edgier pieces including a catsuit and some faux leather convertible pants. If you’re looking for a dreamier wardrobe they have a romantic maxi dress

Rhonda Lynette Designs – Rhonda is so talented! She started from scratch, sewing all of her designs. You can be certain that you’ll get the inseam you need, check out our blog post on her, here.

Veraf Clothing – Veraf is a UK based company that designs both classic and modern, bold pieces. We are particularly eyeing up the Bella dress in both green and the long sleeve red version. Every woman’s shape is flattered by some well placed ruching and that asymmetrical neckline is just up our alley.

Chelbe Fashions – Warm weather inspired pieces, we see several things we’d gladly rock all summer long including some ruffle shorts and a stunning magenta satin feel romper. Plus all of their pants go up to 37.5 inseam, which we know is necessary and for that we’re grateful!

Jesse Queen – Another incredible designer. Bianca herself is total goals and her designs include a fantastic pair of latex leggings, as well as denim flares up to 40 inch inseam!

All Things Tall Co. – If you have found yourself wishing for a pair of flare jeans that are long enough, look no further. These flares will fit you like a second skin and are 38 inch inseam! Check out our post on them, here.

Prissy Duck Designs – Stephanie has so many smart purchases/designs for tall women. She covers dress pants, jumpsuits, and athleisure, just to name a few. We wrote about Prissy Duck, here and here if you’d like to see us wearing her amazing clothing.

TTYA London – Irene is one of the first tall small businesses I had found before starting our blog. She designs some seriously luxe pieces and I bought one of her classic black midi skirts over 10 years ago and always get compliments on it. She has broken so many barriers for younger tall womens clothing, including helping ASOS launch their tall range, as well as doing several collections for them over the years.

Model Atelier – A lot of tall women (myself included) bemoan the lack of current yet classic suiting options. Model Atelier will have you looking luxe and tailored in no time. Plus she just released the COOLEST tanks and/crop tops that will double as a cowl neck or a face mask. I love the ingenuity!

Smash Shoes – Some seriously lust worthy shoes, especially for our tall sisters who might also have tall AND wide feet. Anyone who has ever hoped for a pair of knee high boots, look no further than Smash!

Dimiloc – If you’ve ever caught yourself wondering where you can find a long-enough maxi skirt, you have to check out Dimiloc. They do some amazing prints and different shapes than just your average maxi. Plus they have maxi dresses (WITH sleeves) which is also typically hard to come by for tall women. Lastly, they’re also producing face masks, which is a relevant purchase right now!

TJL Designs – I just heard about TJL Collection while participating in The Tall Society’s first town hall meeting. They are launching their first collection July 1st and judging by their instagram pics, it’s going to include some beautiful pieces. Can’t wait to see more from them!

Rozana London – Also a new to the game designer, Jade has started off strong with some key pieces for tall women. An eye-catching mini dress, a luxe beige co-ord, and a stunning black evening gown. If you need a look for a special occasion, definitely check out Rozana!

So hopefully we’ve included the full list of companies, but please let us know if we missed one and we’ll update it ASAP.
