Good Morning! Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend. Lent has begun and in Wisconsin, that equates to unofficial fish fry season. All of the Catholics who can’t eat red meat have convinced the rest of us to join them every Friday for various favorite fish fry’s. If you don’t live in our fair state, you’re probably wondering what we’re talking about. Really though, it is big business and wildly popular. Online publication, OnMilwaukee published an extensive list of all the suitable fish fry options, check it out here and you’ll know we’re not exaggerating!

Friday night I (Jenilee) went to one of the options on the list and it’s called… Kegel’s. It’s ok, we can all chuckle immaturely. Keeping it real, but not a lot of fish fries impress me. It’s probably because a lot of places just cover up mediocre fish with a fried batter. I can taste right through it, haha. I’ve had a Vietnamese version, and that’s top two, other than our homemade bluegill fish fry we do up north with the fish we catch ourselves. We were drooling over the picture The Buckatabon released of their fish fry, so you know we have to try it as soon as it opens! Check out their Instagram or Facebook page to see for yourself.

But as for the rest of Lent, do you give anything up? We weren’t really raised to do it as necessary. I’ve done it in years past, but I haven’t thought of anything in particular yet for this year. Sound off below if you do, and maybe it will inspire me! I think the point is that whatever you give up (or if you like to add something in) it should point you back towards God. Maybe shopping is a good option to give up temporarily!

In the meantime, we’ve still got some really good stuff coming up to share with you! Like I mentioned in last week’s Real Tall Find’s Friday, we’re in that grey space between Winter and Spring. You want to start brightening up your wardrobe and pulling out your lighter options, but the weather isn’t cooperating yet. For me in particular, I like to get creative with always having some brighter colored sweaters I can reach for as the weather begrudgingly changes.

One of the biggest trends I’ve noticed while online shopping, are the incredible sleeve details. Whether it’s a puff sleeve or volume sleeve, it’s a great time to be alive (if you’re like me). I’m not a super big print person, so I like to add details with the cut of the fabric and/or the color selection. This sweater has both. It’s a romantic ginger color and the puff sleeves are totally my jam, as well as the sweetheart neckline. It’s super soft and a slightly cropped cut on my 6’4 frame. I’m wearing it in a size medium and I’d call it true to size.

As for the jeans, I’ve long been a fan of Express’ denim. They make a perfect curvy cut and don’t leave any gaping at the waistband. I have had a regular blue jean version of button-front jeans from Gap and wanted to try a grey pair as well because I get so much use out of them. They are ankle length, for anyone wondering about the length. I like some of my jeans to be cut a bit shorter for my higher ankle booties. I’m wearing a size 10L. There are very limited sizes left in that specific pair of jeans but if you’re a 00L or 18L it’s your lucky day because they are only $19.97! You can’t beat that for a pair of jeans.

I paired it with my snakeskin booties, which were a Nordstrom Rack find and no longer available. I did find a pair that goes up to size 13 on Amazon and are linked, here. Plus they are under $50, so definitely check them out, if you’ve been on the hunt.

Sound off below, how do you figure out how to dress for this grey season between Winter and Spring?

Outfit Details

You know what day it is, and we’re here to improve it further with our favorite finds of the week. I have to start off with a random Amazon find. If you’re anything like me, you’re getting a little crazed at the thought of underwear prices at Victoria’s Secret or the like rising any further. I found this fun option on Amazon that you get a random selection of underwear and it’s only $30 for 20 pairs (don’t forget to click the 10% off coupon too)! I’d say that’s a heck of a lot better. They arrived in the mail and I’m converted! No more mall underwear for me. Check them out, here. For sizing, I’d say size up! I went with XL and am happy with the fit.

Amalli Talli

We just heard the news that our discount code for Amalli Talli expires at the end of the month. It took me roughly five years of searching and failing until Amalli Talli debuted this tall girl version! It’s available in black, here and white, here. All sizes are available in white and black. But seriously, for $26.40 the price can’t be beat and the fit! I (Jenilee) have the white cami in size Medium.

Ok you get the picture on their sale, by now! We’ve already shopped it ourselves and just want to spread the good word to y’all. The code only works on full-priced items, but if you’ve been eyeing the Hollis Jean Jacket, now is the time to grab for 15% before spring hits (THEREALTALL15)!

Alloy Apparel

Alloy has marked a ton of their items down in anticipation of Spring’s (hopefully imminent) arrival! They’ve got up to 70(!!!)% off their items and it’s luring us in big time! Hopefully, you can snatch up some great pieces that will work now until the grass is revealed/starts to grow again.

First up is the Vanessa French Terry jumpsuit that Caitlin has been rocking. Link to the ivory version, here. Link to the black version, here. She’s wearing it in a size Large and it’s true to size.

If you missed the leopard print pants, your eyes might be closed, because they are one incredible standout piece to add to your closet. They have a lot of stretch to them so consider sizing down. Caitlin is wearing them in a size 12 but could have done a size 10. Link to the leopard print pants, here.

Tall girl cardigans? On major sale?! It sounds like the right time to stock up to us. Grab their well-fitting cardigans, here for the rust , here for the black, and here for maroon. They are true to size unless you have bigger biceps than us! We’re both wearing the M/L size.

If a complete off the shoulder jumpsuit is more your scene, you’ve got to snap up the Eva jumpsuit! I’m wearing it in size Large and it’s true to size. Link to the grey version, here. Link to the black version, here.

We’ll stop inundating you with sale options, but you NEED to check out Alloy’s bodysuit selection. We have the tank version, which we’ll be wearing forevermore. They don’t call it essential for anything! We’re wearing in size Large, there is a lot of stretch and it is super comfortable. I’ve never worn a bodysuit all day long without getting sick of it, before this one! Click here for the tank bodysuit. Click here for the long sleeve version.

Disclaimer: This is not an Alloy Blazer

Lastly, we have to mention these insane prices on blazers. We always feel like we miss out on reasonably priced blazers that fit like average people can find. These blazers have solved all our woes! Click here for the navy blazer, and click here for the black blazer.

Alright, now that you’re good and overwhelmed with all of your options, happy shopping! As always, let us know if you’re shopping for something in particular and we will do our best to find it and include it for you next week!

Every day I wake up and I feel a little bit more blessed than the day before. My closet continues to fill/be curated into such well-fitting tall retailer options. I know some of my tall sisters can agree with us on that. Sometimes it’s easy for us (especially being the minority group for shopping) to focus on what’s missing and what we’re left out of. Ourselves included, as we were just bemoaning the fact that ASOS’ United Kingdom site no longer delivers to the US. It wouldn’t be an issue aside from us seeing the incredible drops on the U.K. site that never make it to the U.S. So point being, it’s simple to get caught up in that cycle of “why me or woe is me.”

This comes up for two reasons. One we’ve seen a lot of talk circulating about retailers missing the boat or what we’re looking for in clothing. I think sometimes we’re the ones missing the boat on expecting one retailer to be able to satisfy the needs of tall women of all ages and sizes. That is a tall order, pun intended! We simultaneously have the urge to “be unique” while also wanting to fit in with the current trends/fashions. What a large order to fill. I’m not saying someone shouldn’t take on the task and do their best, more that we have to temper our expectations.

Let’s face the facts, someone is buying some of the pieces that you might despise on sight. Otherwise, they wouldn’t keep churning them out or risk going out of business. It goes back to voting with your dollars. Don’t give retailers your money if you don’t align with their clothing! That is the most efficient way to get the point across. Also, if you have the opportunity to send them an email or take their survey; take the five minutes to do it. We never pass up the chance to share our feedback. Even if it might feel like you’re throwing words into the void, it always makes me feel better, like I had my say.

The second is we’re excited to introduce a new to us retailer that we’ve been eyeing for a long time! Prissy Duck Designs operates out of Michigan and has been providing some seriously incredible and necessary pieces we need in our lives. It’s no secret that Caitlin and I highly value our comfort. It comes from that athletic upbringing of wearing sweats for most of our younger lives. With that in mind, what could possibly be better than finding tall athleisure pieces? Aside from that being rhetorical, nothing.

We’re old enough now that the question circulates internally of when it’s no longer appropriate to wear sweats in public. This jumpsuit solves that question! Now I can show up at the airport and feel simultaneously chic and relaxed. It’s also going to be super easy to grab for days I’m running errands and want to feel comfortable but put together. It’s an elevated version of wearing the basic leggings.

I’m wearing the jumpsuit in a size large, and think it is true to size. As you can see, it is plenty long enough and doesn’t ride up at all or cause the dreaded camel toe. I will say if you have more muscular arms, they are slightly tight on mine. The fabric has minimal stretch, but once I have it on and zipped I don’t notice the arms whatsoever. I love the tie waist because it saves me from feeling frumpy in normally shapeless sweats. This is a super well thought out piece and I’m lucky to have it in my closet!

In summation, how many of you have expanded your horizons and tried out a new small business tall company? Prissy Duck is out here giving us life with their amazing tall pieces, and I think we could all vote with our dollars on their store instead of focusing on other stores that don’t fit our needs! We’re excited to share more of Prissy Duck’s clothing in the coming weeks!

Bittersweet news today y’all. This is the last of our current collaboration with Alloy. It has been a treat for us to get reacquainted with their selections and to lose our fears that they still had junior sizing, as we remember back in our high school days. The goal with any of our collaborations is to help you feel confident in being able to order from brands – especially since we all have to take the plunge and order online. If you’re ever left scratching your head, feeling like we didn’t answer your questions; we want to know! Ask us clarifying questions because the goal is to provide value to you!

To end our collaboration, this week’s post is all about cardigans! Cardigans are an unsung hero of most women’s closets. Not sure about you, but we struggle to stay warm in our offices all day. You’re sitting at a desk, with limited blood flow. We do our best to drink copious amounts of water so we’re taking many bathroom breaks to get the blood pumping again. But even that doesn’t do enough to warm us. This is where layers are key, and cardigans are an obvious front runner choice.

They’re a top choice because they can do it all. Basically in any office aside from business professional (where you’re expected to wear a blazer) they are appropriate. They still provide the same streamlined silhouette as a blazer if they fit correctly as well. This is where it’s most important to still buy cardigans cut for your shape/size because if you’re buying a mainline option you’ll probably end up having to size up. When you size up, it ends up being a baggier look in the armpit and making you look wider as it’s not actually fitted for your arm length.

Truly all things I didn’t realize I was settling for until I started wearing actual tall clothing. Then you put on your non-tall options and are suddenly dissatisfied with all of your mainline purchases. It’s absolutely helped to make us more discerning with purchases. We have the tendency to browse in-store and get carried away with clearance items. Now we can reign it in by taking a closer look at how well it actually fits. No more coming home with stuff, wearing it once and relegating it to the back of the closet.

That’s why it’s been so much fun trying these pieces from Alloy Apparel. These cardigans fit the sleeve length perfectly and they hit right at the armpit where they’re meant to. We’re both wearing them in a size large. To note, if you have larger arms than us, you might be more comfortable sizing up. There isn’t a ton of give in the fabric, which helps the cardigan look polished! I wore this look to travel/work remotely in. It served me well to sit comfortably in the car and then work remotely in Starbucks.

Caitlin wore hers with an Alloy pair of jeans. She is wearing them in a size 12 and the 35 inseam. Just to note with this pair, there isn’t a lot of stretch to them. We’d definitely say size up for a comfortable fit. The dark wash is also one of the first pair of jean washes we’d recommend investing in. It can be dressed up super easily and also is very easy to wear with many different colors. We are both also wearing the black tank scoop neck bodysuit. We can’t reiterate enough how much we love these bodysuits. They are so so soft and comfortable. Normally I don’t like to wear bodysuits all day long, but I never even noticed with this one because it fits so perfectly. We’re both wearing these in a size large and would say stick with your normal size!

That’s all for today, hope we helped enlighten you a bit more on Alloy Apparel. We’ll be keeping an eye out for their new drops and sales to send your way. Lastly, don’t forget you can use REALTALL20 for 20% off your purchase right now. They’ve even got free shipping for you to take advantage of, which is also the last hurdle to get past on making a purchase. The Cardigans and Bodysuit are both on final sale, so they are already marked down to amazing prices for some solid tall closet essentials!

Today’s Real Tall Find’s Friday is devoted to swimwear. We’ve had questions about where we find our swimsuits (especially one piece swimsuits) and wanted to do a round up so it’d be as easy as possible for you to find well-fitting options. Also, we both like to typically wear bikinis. I know swimwear can bring bad feelings on for some people. Every body is a bikini body. If you don’t like bikinis, that’s ok too! Do whatever you need to, in order to enjoy a day in the sun/sand/water.

La Blanca

We’ve had great luck with one-pieces from La Blanca. They all have adjustable straps so you can adjust them to your torso requirements! We’ve typically sized up one for extra length, but they also just added torso measurements to the suits so you can decide if the length will work!

Criss Cross One Piece, Halter One Piece, Underwire Suit, Island Goddess (these all come in multiple colors)

Asos Tall

You probably had a feeling this was coming; considering our long track record of talking about Asos Tall. To be fair, they have a nice selection of one piece swimsuits, plus they have a couple of high waisted bikini bottoms that will actually cover your belly button like they’re supposed to! Beware, some of their options are rather cheeky, like the two-pack we got of the black and white suits above!

Aerie

We are pretty well endowed in the booty department so Aerie has been a little too small in that area for us, but if you have a bit of a smaller backside you might love all of the fun colors they offer here! All of their swim separates are $20 each right now. Since there are so many options on their site we recommend just filtering (by S Tall/M Tall/L Tall/XL Tall) your size so you can see all the options!

Target and Boohoo Tall

Lastly, here are some suits that we’ve never tried for ourselves. There are several brands at Target that have “long” one piece options including Kona Sol, and Shade and Shore. We also linked a couple of fun print options from Boohoo. If you’ve ever tried these out, please sound off in the comments below for your fellow tall women!
