Just this week, I noticed that the mornings are starting to brighten earlier. That is one of the best feelings, for trying to round the corner in Winter. Don’t talk to me about how much of Winter is actually left, because I’m not interested in those details. All I know is how much easier it is to get out of bed when it’s not completely dark in the morning. Anyone else heard of those alarm clocks that gradually brighten so you’re awakening with natural light? We actually have one of those, but something about looking outside and realizing it’s still dark makes me want to roll over and ignore it. Spoken like a true night owl, I suppose! It still does help ease into the day though, here’s the link if anyone is interested in checking it out.

In other news, we must admit defeat on no-spend February. While we had the best of intentions, it isn’t exactly fair to post collaborations of new items all month long when we told you we were planning on remixing items we already had. With that in mind, we’re planning on doing this in March! So if you were anxiously awaiting us to mention it six days into the new month, let’s just get that out of the way now. The good news is March will be here before you know it. February is a blink and miss it kind of month, which I’m realizing as I type we’re already a week into.

Although we just told you we’re not claiming February as a no-spend/remix month, this outfit is, in essence, both of those things. We’ve posted all of these things before today, except for the coat. Just on Monday, I wore this exact wrap top with a pair of faux leather pants. If you missed it, click here. You know by now, that if one of us loves something, there’s a good chance we both have to have it. That happens quite often with basics. This wrap top is no exception. Like I’ve proclaimed before, wrap tops are very flattering on most body shapes. The cut draws the eye down, creating a slimming effect.

The jeans are American Eagle and our new obsession. They are the highest rise waist we know of, at a whopping 12 inches. This pair is the AE 360 Ne(x)t Level Super High-Waisted Jegging and has a rise of 11.25 inches. If you’re curvy, we’d definitely recommend the AE Ne(x)t level Curvy Highest Waist Jegging (12 inches). They are a true game-changer. No other jean easily covers our belly buttons like this. They make it an option for us to rock a crop top and feel covered up enough still! We like to buy size 12 at American Eagle. They typically leave a little extra space, but are super comfortable and still shape our curves better than other jeans.

Lastly, we have to discuss the coat! You know we love to have a rotation of coat options, as Wisconsin Winters can seem rather endless. Caitlin snagged this beauty on sale at our go-to for coats: ASOS. We’re getting to the time of the season where all of their current season items will be marked down on major sale if they haven’t been already. If you’re in the market for a coat, do yourself a favor and wait until they’re off-season so you can save some money. It’s a great neutral coat that can see you through your daily grind or be worn over a dress for an event. She’s wearing size 12 and there is still some sleeve length leftover if you’re taller than 5’11.

Let us know in the comments what you’re shopping for in the discount month of February or if we can help you find it!

I’m going to assume we’re all dragging a little bit today, as is usually the case after Super Bowl Sunday. Have we all signed the petition for it to be moved to Saturday? Better yet, get Presidents Day (which I usually have off work) moved to be the Monday after the Super Bowl so we can all have a day to recuperate. Either way, you slice it, both would be much preferred to having a late Sunday night and then trudging through Monday sleepy. Hopefully, you all enjoyed either the game or the commercials (as is my only reason for watching). We’re writing this ahead of time, so we can’t pick our favorites in the post. Let us know yours (if any) in the comments!

The priorities with Super Bowl Sunday are always food and commercials for me! I don’t even particularly love the halftime show anymore because I feel like they never do full songs anymore. It’s usually some quick medley that leaves me wanting more. So I focus on choosing some yummy heavy appetizers to snack on throughout and choosing my bathroom breaks during the actual playtime, as I don’t care about either team. Also, if you’ve got some favorite appetizer/snacks you like to make for parties, we’d love to hear them as well!

As far as the unrelated outfit today, we’re back with another look that’s basically all ASOS! I’ve had these faux leather joggers since the early Fall. We actually shot them one other time but the season got away from us and we didn’t love the pictures. So technically this is remix #2 but I guess you’ll never see the first time, hahaha. I feel a little like MC Hammer a la “Can’t Touch This.’ They’re not something I’d typically buy, but on a whim I ordered them and liked the feel of wearing faux leather pants that weren’t skin tight.

They’ve got a more sporty vibe to them, which helps fill a void in my closet. They don’t scream, I’m going out clubbing as much as skinny leather pants might. Also, despite being a fuller cut, they still skim my legs and the tapered bottom still creates a nice silhouette. The waist is right to my belly button but not above it, and there is a drawstring to tie them tighter if needed. I bought a size 10 and I’d say they’re true to size.

We talk about ASOS’s selection of bodysuits quite often, but this is actually just a normal wrap top. I got it for Christmas and was quite pleased to finally have such a nice fitting wrap top. Usually, I find one I like in a mainline size and then size up, creating a baggy fabric excess under my armpit. Not such a good look for a wrap style top. This one covers my wrists, which is all I ask for! It’s not super long, so if you’re in need of a longer butt-covering top, this probably doesn’t fit the bill. If I want to wear it to work, I’d just put a cami underneath to raise the neckline. I love a good V neckline, as it flatters a lot of different body shapes.

Lastly, these booties are from Nordstrom (I bought them last year), but still available. They’re Treasure & Bond brand. Some reviewers say they run a little small. I notice it slightly but think they fit my size 13 feet just fine. I also have more narrow feet, so they might not work if you have wider! This Winter more than ever I’ve realized the value of having a couple pairs of boots you just love. I don’t ever get sick of wearing these and basically alternate between these, my Coix brown boots you’ve seen me wear with everything and flat Chelsea style boots I found at Long Tall Sally and Nordstrom Rack. That helps me justify spending a bit more on boots because the cost-per-wear drops dramatically after wearing them daily.

Hopefully this inspires you to try out something you’ve been eyeing but is outside of your wheelhouse. You never know until you try something on, is my motto.

We’re back to end your week on a high note! It’s a fun week when you can share some new items from Tall only retailers. Just saying it makes me happy. This week we got a comment about someone saying how much better shopping is now than when she was growing up. It’s an unfortunate fact for any of our followers our age or beyond. Our Mom grew up knowing it to be the case, and that’s part of the reason she’s a proficient sewer now. You have to figure out ways to get by – all our tall sisters know that better than most.

It makes it so much sweeter to live in a time where we’ve got retailers catering solely to our lengthy bodies. We’re back today to brief you on some seriously legit leopard pants from Alloy Apparel. This is the second post of our series with Alloy (if you missed the first click here) and there’s nothing we love more than showing y’all the difference of our heights and how that affects the fit. When Alloy asked for our inseams and sizes we realized they don’t just do the “tall” that some retailers claim with their longest inseam. No, they have multiple inseams because they know we’re not all covered within one.

Caitlin is wearing these incredible leopard print skinnies in a 35’ inseam. They’ve got some really nice stretch to the fabric. With that in mind, you could easily size down. We both ordered size 12 but would have had no problem fitting into a size 10. This print has got some serious statement-making power. It’s vibrant and fun, for when your basic blue jeans won’t cut it.

She was inspired to get a little bit edgier with this look, by pairing it with one of her graphic t-shirts and a teddy bear jacket. Talk about a perfect way to get out of your wintertime blues, by dressing in some brighter colors! I find myself subconsciously reaching for neutrals and darker colors as the weather remains grey for days on end, but even looking at this outfit lifts my mood.

The best part about pants like this leopard print pair is that they transcend seasons. You can just as easily wear this same outfit for a concert in the summer without the teddy jacket. They are lightweight material, so you won’t be super sweaty when you do wear them in the Summer! I can also envision wearing these with an oversized black sweater for out to dinner or meeting up with friends for happy hour for a glam winter look. Also, since we both fell in love with their bodysuits, you’ve got two power pieces you can put together easily. It makes me think of pieces I like to travel with. You can wear them in many scenarios while still maintaining your comfort. Win-win all around!

Worth mentioning again, we’ve got a 20% off code for you to try these bad boys out, at Alloy Apparel using realtall20. If you can’t fathom wearing a print on your lower half, they have plenty of other amazing options! Coming up soon on the blog, their black pant version I wore on an airplane last week and comfortably I might add.

Two posts for the price of one today! Bad sale joke aside, we almost forgot about Real Tall Finds Friday for week two. You know how it goes before you get in the habit of something. It’s ridiculously easy to slip your mind. But judging by people’s comments last week, this is something you’re interested in. With that in mind, it’s important to us to keep the finds coming!

Caitlin is heading on a trip to Mexico in the near future and that is cause enough for us to give you a vacation themed finds! When we’re on beach vacations we live in swimsuits by day and make it as simple as possible for dinner by packing a dress for each night. Some of the dresses below we’ve shown you this last summer, and they are marked down on major sale. We’re happy to talk sizing with you if you aren’t familiar.

We added a bunch of tall one piece swimming suits, because we get the struggle to find well fitting options! Some of these suits are marked down to ridiculously good prices as part of ASOS final sale pricing. While browsing I also noticed this new-to-us tall suit option, so we can’t really help on quality/sizing for Kona Sol, but they look like another great option.

We typically stick to midi length or maxi dresses while on vacation. There’s something so perfect about wearing a flowy maxi dress after being in a swimsuit all day especially if you get a little too much sun time. To top off any of these dresses, we can’t recommend the Hollis Jean Jacket from Amalli Talli enough, linked here. While it isn’t on any particular sale, you will NOT regret buying it. I (Jenilee) wore it on my trip to Mexico and it goes with everything!

Let us know if you have any sizing questions and happy shopping tall sisters!

Three days of posting in a row, say what?! All of a sudden we find ourselves with lots of exciting stuff to share with you. Today we’re talking about a retailer who we haven’t mentioned on the blog yet! You might have heard of them if you’re around the same age as us, as a magazine retailer when you were growing up. Who are we talking about? Alloy Apparel of course! In one of the more exciting shifts for a retailer, they went from providing basically tall pants/jeans/maxi dresses while predominantly being a mainline retailer. We used to buy all of our work pants from Alloy!

In the years before the shift, we had discovered many other options for tall pants and maxi dresses so admittedly, they fell off our radar. When Alloy started popping up again touting their shift to Tall only – we were intrigued. Clearly they had it down when we used to buy their pants, but now they were adding a bunch of other tall basics we all could use in life!

We posted a month or two ago on Instagram stories talking about how we’d like to be able to do grades/report cards for retailers being tall friendly. With that in mind, we reached out to Alloy to see if they’d be interested in collaborating and they were happy to send us some of their pieces to try for ourselves! Talk about a great first retailer to grade, being that they only create clothing for tall women.

The first two pieces we’re sharing today are their flare jeans and their black scoop bodysuit. Flare jeans are some of the most difficult/scary jeans to buy for me personally. The initial hesitation is always due to disbelieving the inseam length will be long enough. Secondly, is always if the cut of the flare will be flattering because I have athletic/muscular thighs. After browsing their site and seeing it was a 37’ inseam, I was sure they wouldn’t be long enough for me.

I’m relieved to be able to recommend this pair to you! They are referred to as high rise, but I would say they’re more like a mid-rise cut, as they don’t reach my belly button (which is what I’d consider high rise). In regards to the cut, any time the line of the jean follows closely to your knee before starting the flare is the most flattering on my body type. Otherwise, it stays too wide and leaves me feeling like I have tree trunk legs. This dark rinse is ideal as well if you’ve felt the same as me with minimizing your thighs. Lastly, I love the distressed hem detail! Not all flares need to be dressy, and this makes me feel like I could rock them in many more situations, like a concert or a night out, while it’s still a small enough detail I wouldn’t hesitate to wear them to church or somewhere a bit more buttoned up.

Also, we have to talk about this bodysuit. Totally an unsung hero piece. We’ve sung our praises for bodysuits for a long time on the blog and our love hasn’t wavered. Anytime we put on a bodysuit we instantly feel polished and put together. Something about the seamless tuck into your pants that just streamlines the look. But this bodysuit, in particular, is a must-have. Not only is the cut of it never going out of style, but it is supremely soft and comfortable. Cut for tall women, no pulling in your crotch area. The straps are wide enough to never worry about your bra straps showing and the neckline is neither dowdy nor suggestive. It does it all! Lastly, we have to add that it’s under $20 today, such a steal!

In summation, these pieces are versatile additions to my wardrobe. We’re super excited to also share that using code realtall20 you get an additional 20% off your purchase. Click here to shop their site. Stay tuned for some additional amazing pieces in the coming weeks!
