Happy Friday! I don’t know about you, but we don’t eat out very regularly for lunch anymore. We’ve taken to packing our lunches to save our dollars and our waistlines for overconsumption. All priorities on where we like to spend our money, right?! But we still do enjoy meeting up for lunch sporadically. So when we do, we like to choose places that we know we’ll truly enjoy. Subs are one of the more obvious lunchtime spots, and we all know there is a dime a dozen to choose from. We get to be more selective in our choices because we’re definitely not hurting for options.

If you know anything about us at this point, it’s that our Wisconsin pride runs deep. So when Wisconsin native Cousins Subs reached out to us to see if we’d want to come try their new limited-time subs, you better believe we jumped at the chance! We headed over to their West Allis location and got to check out one of their newly renovated stores, which was absolutely gorgeous.

Once we settled in, we started with their Mac and Cheese which is a newer menu addition, as well as their cheese curds. They’re made with Wisconsin cheese, because of course! Both were delicious. The Mac and Cheese was perfectly creamy and the cheese curds had the perfect light layer of deep-fried breading. Plus you get so many for the large size!

After we did some serious work on those sides, the main event was brought out. First, we tried the Hot Ham & Cheddar Deluxe Sub, which is like an upgrade ham and cheese. It had ham, bacon, white cheddar cheese, pickles, onions, tomatoes, and mayo. Fully loaded up and nothing better than a warm sub! We loved the extra touches, like the bacon and the fact that they used Wisconsin white cheddar cheese. A great update on a classic.

The second sub was the Chicken Cordon Bleu. While we loved both, this one definitely stole our hearts as the winner. It was topped with ham, chicken, white cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo, and honey mustard. It was the perfect melding of flavors, and it reminded me of my favorite Po Boy I had in New Orleans!

To send us on our way completely stuffed to the gills, we tried their chocolate shake and a vanilla shake. We’d both say they easily rival Culver’s (gasp – we said it!). All in all, we’re telling you to get over to Cousin’s and try out their new menu items. They’re only sticking around until November, so don’t sleep on them either! It was a great experience and we’re definitely all about Cousin’s for our first choice for an amazing sub sandwich!

Oh weird, we talked about animal print being our obsession for Fall. Here we are back again today in something animal print! What a coincidence… I think not. Caitlin dropped some heavy thoughts inspired by animal print yesterday on Instagram. If you aren’t following along on there you should go check it out and let us know what you think or if you’ve ever had it happen to you!

On a lighter note, we know a lot of you have been missing Payless for your larger cheap shoe options. While they’re not quite up to snuff yet, Amazon has been quietly adding options to their Amazon essentials. Did you know that we have an Amazon storefront of curated products we like to shop from there? If you haven’t checked it out yet, click here! We try to round up some footwear options for you past size 12 ideally. Otherwise, we put a widget at the end of the post to check out some of their basic footwear. I’m thinking of making a purchase with Amazon wardrobe to test them out and maybe do a try on for reference. Is that something people are interested in? If so, please leave a comment!

The real excitement for today’s post comes from another new to us tall small business. Introducing All Things Tall Co! Founded by Lauren Givonne, she felt much the same as we did growing up. Being enamored with fashion but admiring from afar, because things weren’t made to fit her (our) size. Realizing that she didn’t have to settle, and there was nothing wrong with having a beautifully tall, athletically shaped body, she set about on her quest to provide chic options for us lengthier ladies.

I couldn’t relate to her feelings more. My experience paralleled Givonne’s. It started out with shopping and having to quickly size up to the older children’ options. I’d be admiring the items in my age range, only to understand that they weren’t actually made for me. It meant dressing in items that I wasn’t matured to mentally. Browsing at places like TJ Maxx and having to look in the women’s items because the teens were far too short made me feel frumpy and isolated from friends. I ended up borrowing clothing often from our Mom, which works in many senses but as a teenager, it left me feeling matronly at times. That’s no knock on her impeccable style, I think we all just look back and understand that yearning to fit in and wear similar styles to our peers.

One of the items that I found myself sized out of the market most quickly were jeans. Of course, there were still options available, but at a premium price. I would spend the afternoon at The Buckle trying on the limited options available. The pairs would whittle themselves down until I found one pair we could purchase for the school year. Luckily, they were of great quality, so they lasted really well. The downside was the obvious pocket embroidery, that announced itself loudly.

Clearly, we’ve had a lot more options become available since then as evidenced by our blog options shared. Even some of the pairs we’ve showcased here, have length or shape left wanting. Suffice to say the hunt was still on for the perfect pair. We entered the giveaway from All Things Tall Co and were elated to find out we won a pair. Which pair would it be?! We anxiously anticipated the arrival. When they showed up at my door, I tore open the package and pulled them on. Like a dream, I now finally owned the perfect pair of flare jeans. Down to the floor they gracefully followed my curves. Not too wide of a flare, but not a boot cut either, they balanced out my athletic thighs better than I could have imagined!

What I’m saying is, these jeans were made for us tall women. As you can tell, they easily touch the floor on my 6’4 frame. Worth mentioning that my inseam for floor length is 38”. I’d feel comfortable wearing a heel with these as well. As for sizing, I am typically between a 10/12 or 30/31 for jeans. I went with a 30 for these, and as you can tell they fit. They are definitely tight, but I prefer flares that way and the high waist keeps me feeling sucked in. The stretch is on point, and I haven’t noticed them losing shape after wearing over 5 times and washing them. I know a lot of women are concerned with getting the sizing correct when they try new companies, but their sizing chart worked well for me, and they are available to chat and answer any sizing concerns you have!

Also want to mention that the top is from Express and is the softest material! It feels so incredible and the print is obviously perfect. The flats are from Long Tall Sally and are the Mary Jane style, you can check them out here. Limited sizing available but they are marked down to $40! The hat is from H&M and is where Caitlin and I have had good luck for our large head needs!

We couldn’t be more grateful to all of the women who take the fight upon themselves to provide a better way for the rest of us. It’s such an inspiration to see other women realizing their dreams, and along the way blessing us with incredible options that we can feel good in!

Back to school, back to school to prove to Mom that I’m no fool. Does anyone remember Billy Madison? For whatever reason, I associate back to school with a movie about a man-child chanting that rhyme as he attempts to actually complete the school he never had. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s classic Adam Sandler. So if you like him, you’d like the movie. If not, probably skip it, haha.

We’ve also been talking about it recently, but we also think back to school is synonymous with Fall fashion. It goes back to shopping with our Mom in preparation for school. We’d accumulate some key new pieces and then debut them at school. With that in mind, I definitely made the switch myself this week and wore a Fall outfit I’d been holding out on until now. The weather also encouraged me, considering the specific briskness felt in the air this whole weekend. Then waking up Tuesday morning to it being super dark and stormy outside, it felt like Mother Nature was approving of the shift to Fall.

Some of you are probably elated about that, we know a lot of people are one hundred percent about anything Fall. Don’t misconstrue us, we love us everything about Fall as well. It’s always just difficult mourning the loss of summer and then looking ahead to some ridiculously cold weather. But that’s why we buck up and plan a vacation to keep our heads up!

One thing I don’t feel excited about (unpopular opinion alert) is Pumpkin everything. I’ll eat some pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving, and I’ve enjoyed a pumpkin bar with cream cheese frosting, but you won’t catch me hunting down pumpkin spice lattes. I am intrigued by the Cold Brew version, but we’ll see if I ever feel swayed enough to grab one! What are your favorite drinks at Starbucks?

But back to Fall fashion. What we are clearly super pumped about is animal print! It’s not surprising, considering we’ve long embraced some leopard print. That specifically has been around forever and can safely be considered a classic. A lot of retailers bring back an “updated” version yearly that always tries to lure us in. So having a lot of that in our closets is nothing new. But the rest of the animal prints are having a moment and we’re all about it!

I wore a cow print top to State Fair because what better way to represent Wisconsin and our Dairy State than cow print! I also recently wore a zebra print sundress I snagged for $10 at H&M that we posted on Instagram. Can’t forget about the leopard print pants I wore to Summerfest either. So it sounds like I’m the one doing the loving of the animal print thus far, but just stay tuned. Caitlin has some seriously incredible pieces to debut this Fall that show her animal print devotion.

Starting today with this snakeskin print dress! This is kind of a stretch for her to choose, mainly because she’s always being pragmatic about her approach to buying dresses that she will get a lot of use out of. So she was initially hesitant about this dress being work appropriate. The colors being more neutral, and the print not being crazy loud make this work approved by us! She just makes sure she either pins the wrap top to an appropriate height or wears a cami underneath to be comfortable and modest.

So what do you think? Are you all about some animal print? Do you find yourselves avoiding specific animal prints or are you embracing each of them like we are? This is one of the prints that we unabashedly like and find no hesitancy in grabbing for. Let us know in the comments below!

Welcome to Labor Day weekend, friends! We made it to the long weekend and we’re glad to be here. Hopefully, yours is filled with family, friends and/or loved ones! Without further ado, we’ll keep this short and sweet today because we’ve been giving you posts all week long. One thing to mention if you haven’t heard about it yet is a new show dropping on Nextflix next month called “Tall Girl.” We’re excited to check it out and we will definitely let you know what we think/feel about it when it drops!

As for the look today, we’re getting cozy as the temperatures turn crisp. Although we’re all about dressing up and looking cute as evidenced by the dresses we’ve been wearing all week on the blog; we are also all about dressing down and being super comfortable. With the rise of athleisure, we’ve jealously watched other women find the cutest options. Luckily now we’re not hurting for choice anymore! There are plenty of retailers who have tall pieces we’d be more than happy to lounge in.

A lot of our initial purchases were basics, like some joggers to wear to and from the gym or pullovers. With it being gym wear, it was more about functionality than style. But what better feeling than coming home from work and/or the gym and having a sweatsuit you can wear around for the night without looking like a bag lady? We love finding options that do both!

With that being said, Caitlin found this pair of lounge shorts from Asos. She was super excited because they are a tall size. This goes back to how we feel about shorts in general. We basically are excommunicating any shorts inseams less than 5 inches. This pair completely fits the bill. No more worrying about constantly tugging them down as your thighs battle against them staying in place. 5-inch inseam is the gold standard of comfort and confidence as far as we’re concerned.

They also paired perfectly with this tall sweatshirt Caitlin has had from Gap. We both have these sweatshirts in multiple colors because they are the softest material. Plus they again come in tall sizes and the sleeves are generous (even on me at 6’4). Even better news, they have jogger sweatpants in tall and the same material. So if you’re looking to transition to Fall, you can switch out the shorts for full-length pants.

It’s worth mentioning as well that Caitlin has been testing out this electric toothbrush she got off of Amazon and is really liking it. The price point is reasonable especially compared to a Sonicare. You can use it for 100 days after you charge it, which is incredible! Plus it comes with a really nice travel case. Every time we go to the dentist they are really happy with our teeth and are super glad we’re using electric toothbrushes! Check it out here.

Anyways, let us know below where you get your athleisure! Our top options are definitely Old Navy, Gap, Asos, and Lululemon which all have great tall sizing options.

Many may not be familiar with a Wisconsin supper club, but the term is ubiquitous with a nostalgic dining experience. We grew up experiencing them. As they’ve faded out in place of new quicker food options, a valiant group of restaurants has continued the tradition on. Especially in smaller towns or up north, you’ll find some incredible options. Basically, it’s a slower-paced restaurant experience than you might be accustomed to. The other key indicators you’re at a supper club are the location being beautiful/picturesque, and it being a fine dining experience, IE steak.

Do you spy the Wisconsinites tailgating back there?

Supper Clubs are all about tradition, so it would be typical to find decor that might come across as dated. Think of darker interiors, especially in the north woods. The origination was post-war, and a lot have just carried on as they were. Such is the case at McGregor’s Blink Bonnie Supper Club in St. Germain Wisconsin. It’s a place our Grandma loves, and we’ve been visiting there with some regularity over the recent years.

They are one of the more popular supper clubs in those parts, so expect a wait unless you’d like to eat dinner around 4 p.m. We just plan on hanging out and relaxing, so we bring a tailgate of sorts. You can either fight your way up to the bar to grab a drink or you can just hang out around the back of the restaurant and play a game of bags if the weather is agreeable. Most peoples’ drink of choice is an Old Fashioned; a Supper Club should be able to make a great tasting option.

By the time we get seated, we’re usually famished and ready to devour the menu. Luckily Supper Clubs come with several courses, so we don’t have to wait until our steak/main course is ready. We usually like to have an appetizer of sorts, followed by a salad, and then the main course! For our family, we choose between a variety of steaks. Then it’s paired with a vegetable and/or a type of potato. Basically, you’re going to leave full or with a to-go container.

From there we love to have a grasshopper, which we’ve mentioned before. It’s a dessert ice cream drink, so it has creme de menthe in it for a little alcohol addition. Unfortunately, when we finished our dinner, the place we like to go to across the street was already closed. Thankfully our stomachs were already full anyway, so no harm on missing out.

I’ve been waiting for the perfect occasion to wear this blue one shoulder sundress. What better time than getting a little dressed up for an old fashioned night out in the north woods?! This is also a dress we were gifted from Asos and I see a lot of use out of it in the future. It can be worn to a Summer wedding, with most dress codes. It is definitely coming with me on vacation anyway warm/tropical. I love the slits on the sides because they don’t extend too high. So if I feel like I need to wear Spanx with this, I can with no worries.

The last thing we wanted to mention is our excitement over a new Supper Club opening in Wauwatosa. It’s going to be called…. The Buckatabon! If you’ve been following along and have read any of our lake posts, you’ll know that our lake up north is Buckatabon! So we definitely feel honored and super excited about that happening. We can’t wait to check it out when it opens and we will FOR SURE be getting a Grasshopper there. If you want more information about The Buckatabon, check it out here!

Hi Dad! haha!
