Bittersweet news today y’all. This is the last of our current collaboration with Alloy. It has been a treat for us to get reacquainted with their selections and to lose our fears that they still had junior sizing, as we remember back in our high school days. The goal with any of our collaborations is to help you feel confident in being able to order from brands – especially since we all have to take the plunge and order online. If you’re ever left scratching your head, feeling like we didn’t answer your questions; we want to know! Ask us clarifying questions because the goal is to provide value to you!

To end our collaboration, this week’s post is all about cardigans! Cardigans are an unsung hero of most women’s closets. Not sure about you, but we struggle to stay warm in our offices all day. You’re sitting at a desk, with limited blood flow. We do our best to drink copious amounts of water so we’re taking many bathroom breaks to get the blood pumping again. But even that doesn’t do enough to warm us. This is where layers are key, and cardigans are an obvious front runner choice.

They’re a top choice because they can do it all. Basically in any office aside from business professional (where you’re expected to wear a blazer) they are appropriate. They still provide the same streamlined silhouette as a blazer if they fit correctly as well. This is where it’s most important to still buy cardigans cut for your shape/size because if you’re buying a mainline option you’ll probably end up having to size up. When you size up, it ends up being a baggier look in the armpit and making you look wider as it’s not actually fitted for your arm length.

Truly all things I didn’t realize I was settling for until I started wearing actual tall clothing. Then you put on your non-tall options and are suddenly dissatisfied with all of your mainline purchases. It’s absolutely helped to make us more discerning with purchases. We have the tendency to browse in-store and get carried away with clearance items. Now we can reign it in by taking a closer look at how well it actually fits. No more coming home with stuff, wearing it once and relegating it to the back of the closet.

That’s why it’s been so much fun trying these pieces from Alloy Apparel. These cardigans fit the sleeve length perfectly and they hit right at the armpit where they’re meant to. We’re both wearing them in a size large. To note, if you have larger arms than us, you might be more comfortable sizing up. There isn’t a ton of give in the fabric, which helps the cardigan look polished! I wore this look to travel/work remotely in. It served me well to sit comfortably in the car and then work remotely in Starbucks.

Caitlin wore hers with an Alloy pair of jeans. She is wearing them in a size 12 and the 35 inseam. Just to note with this pair, there isn’t a lot of stretch to them. We’d definitely say size up for a comfortable fit. The dark wash is also one of the first pair of jean washes we’d recommend investing in. It can be dressed up super easily and also is very easy to wear with many different colors. We are both also wearing the black tank scoop neck bodysuit. We can’t reiterate enough how much we love these bodysuits. They are so so soft and comfortable. Normally I don’t like to wear bodysuits all day long, but I never even noticed with this one because it fits so perfectly. We’re both wearing these in a size large and would say stick with your normal size!

That’s all for today, hope we helped enlighten you a bit more on Alloy Apparel. We’ll be keeping an eye out for their new drops and sales to send your way. Lastly, don’t forget you can use REALTALL20 for 20% off your purchase right now. They’ve even got free shipping for you to take advantage of, which is also the last hurdle to get past on making a purchase. The Cardigans and Bodysuit are both on final sale, so they are already marked down to amazing prices for some solid tall closet essentials!

Anyone else feeling that February slump? It might be due to January feeling like the length of three months, or it could also be due to me being on the second round of this cold. Likely, it’s a combination of both! But whatever the reason, I’m living for the few sunny days we’ve gotten here. We got hit with plenty of snow here finally but were blessed with some intense sun a day or two later. Driving to work in the morning is made all the easier when the sun is brightening your path. I know I’m not alone in that feeling! It’s also no man’s land for shopping right now unless you’ve been eyeing some pieces up for a long time. There are barely new drops (which is amazing for our wallets), but there are some great deep discounts on Winter season items yet.

We’re back today for the third installment of our Alloy collaboration, and thrilled to be talking jumpsuits! Jumpsuits have been an ongoing love of ours because they are true statement makers. They are one and done outfits like dresses, but allow you to move about more freely than a dress. With that part, they’ve already had a leg up (pun intended) over dresses. The part we hadn’t been doing right until now, is the comfort factor.

A lot of the jumpsuits I’ve loved over the years are magnificent creations. But like dresses, you typically can’t wait to yank it off at the end of the night and get comfy. Not the case with these Alloy jumpsuits! They’ve successfully married comfort and style for our maximum enjoyment. Made of jersey fabric, you can easily move about (aside from lifting your arms overhead with the off the shoulder cut).

We both are wearing a size large in the jumpsuits and find them to be true to size. The length is perfect for me at 6’4, I was even able to wear them with a heeled boot! Caitlin’s has plenty of space for her to add a pair of heels as well, so the length could easily work for someone taller. Despite them being a comfortable jersey fabric, you could wear them in a dressier setting depending on your jewelry and shoes. Already I’m envisioning wearing mine on date night, like Valentine’s/Galentine’s Day this week! Plus it comes in an even more versatile black option.

Caitlin’s jumpsuit takes the throne on versatility though. It’s got long sleeves and just has enough sass to show one shoulder for a slightly demure, yet seductive look. Throw a jacket over the top of it though and you can rock it while traveling. It’s great for a chic airport look and would make a very versatile addition while traveling. Especially if you like to pack in a carry on, where every inch of the bag counts. We don’t know anything about that though, we have been typical over packers. Point being, this jumpsuit helps us be our best selves. It also comes in Ivory, which would be incredible to wear as a bride to be for a shower or rehearsal or bachelorette party!

Plus they’re both really reasonably priced, which is one of the biggest considerations in our search for jumpsuits! We recognize that you’re not going to get the most wear out of a jumpsuit in your wardrobe despite highlighting the versatile options that come to our minds. Best part? We can knock 20% off of the price using REALTALL20 for your shopping pleasure! Let us know below, what are your favorite style jumpsuits to buy? Are you rocking only the fanciest options, or have you started to mix in some casual go-to’s as well? Have a great weekend y’all!

We don’t splurge on getting manicures or pedicures very often, but the solid exception is when we’re going on a vacation. So being that I’ve already gone and come back, and Caitlin is going shortly, I felt like I had to go with her to get my nails done as well. Well, I also received a gift card for Christmas, so that made my choice a no brainer. We always feel like polished versions of ourselves after a good manicure. Your nails are shiny, chip-free, and it just feels like you have your life together!

Another thing that makes my life feel put together is a great pair of black jeggings. Alloy Apparel came through for us on this pair. We’re back today talking about our second post collaboration with them and this pair of pants I’ve been living in. You saw them on Caitlin last Friday in an ultra-cool girl leopard print. Think of this pair as your more professional option to wear endless ways. For this look, I paired it with a lace turtleneck and kept it monochrome with a matching velvet blazer. It makes me feel a little Victorian, a little boardroom conqueror.

I’m wearing them in a size 12, and as I mentioned in Caitlin’s post we both could have sized down. They have a roomy stretchy fit. There are multiple inseams as well, so no worrying about whether they have your inseam! They have between what I’d consider a mid-rise fit, below the belly button. It’s worth mentioning twice, how dang comfortable they are. They passed the airplane test. I sat on two cramped flights each for two hours and didn’t feel restricted at all (beyond not being able to lower my tray haha).

So we want to know, have you tried out Alloy yet? We’ve apparently been sleeping on them because they have some incredible tall girl pieces. Just wait until next week, we’re going to share two different jumpsuits that are so flattering AND comfortable. Typically we don’t think about comfort when we think about jumpsuits, we just worry about the length. Well, get excited, because these jumpsuits do it all, with ease!

Friendly reminder, the code for 20% off is realtall20. Their clothing is already really reasonable, but this certainly doesn’t hurt! You know we’re always on the hunt for a good deal, and we know you are too.

Just this week, I noticed that the mornings are starting to brighten earlier. That is one of the best feelings, for trying to round the corner in Winter. Don’t talk to me about how much of Winter is actually left, because I’m not interested in those details. All I know is how much easier it is to get out of bed when it’s not completely dark in the morning. Anyone else heard of those alarm clocks that gradually brighten so you’re awakening with natural light? We actually have one of those, but something about looking outside and realizing it’s still dark makes me want to roll over and ignore it. Spoken like a true night owl, I suppose! It still does help ease into the day though, here’s the link if anyone is interested in checking it out.

In other news, we must admit defeat on no-spend February. While we had the best of intentions, it isn’t exactly fair to post collaborations of new items all month long when we told you we were planning on remixing items we already had. With that in mind, we’re planning on doing this in March! So if you were anxiously awaiting us to mention it six days into the new month, let’s just get that out of the way now. The good news is March will be here before you know it. February is a blink and miss it kind of month, which I’m realizing as I type we’re already a week into.

Although we just told you we’re not claiming February as a no-spend/remix month, this outfit is, in essence, both of those things. We’ve posted all of these things before today, except for the coat. Just on Monday, I wore this exact wrap top with a pair of faux leather pants. If you missed it, click here. You know by now, that if one of us loves something, there’s a good chance we both have to have it. That happens quite often with basics. This wrap top is no exception. Like I’ve proclaimed before, wrap tops are very flattering on most body shapes. The cut draws the eye down, creating a slimming effect.

The jeans are American Eagle and our new obsession. They are the highest rise waist we know of, at a whopping 12 inches. This pair is the AE 360 Ne(x)t Level Super High-Waisted Jegging and has a rise of 11.25 inches. If you’re curvy, we’d definitely recommend the AE Ne(x)t level Curvy Highest Waist Jegging (12 inches). They are a true game-changer. No other jean easily covers our belly buttons like this. They make it an option for us to rock a crop top and feel covered up enough still! We like to buy size 12 at American Eagle. They typically leave a little extra space, but are super comfortable and still shape our curves better than other jeans.

Lastly, we have to discuss the coat! You know we love to have a rotation of coat options, as Wisconsin Winters can seem rather endless. Caitlin snagged this beauty on sale at our go-to for coats: ASOS. We’re getting to the time of the season where all of their current season items will be marked down on major sale if they haven’t been already. If you’re in the market for a coat, do yourself a favor and wait until they’re off-season so you can save some money. It’s a great neutral coat that can see you through your daily grind or be worn over a dress for an event. She’s wearing size 12 and there is still some sleeve length leftover if you’re taller than 5’11.

Let us know in the comments what you’re shopping for in the discount month of February or if we can help you find it!

I’m going to assume we’re all dragging a little bit today, as is usually the case after Super Bowl Sunday. Have we all signed the petition for it to be moved to Saturday? Better yet, get Presidents Day (which I usually have off work) moved to be the Monday after the Super Bowl so we can all have a day to recuperate. Either way, you slice it, both would be much preferred to having a late Sunday night and then trudging through Monday sleepy. Hopefully, you all enjoyed either the game or the commercials (as is my only reason for watching). We’re writing this ahead of time, so we can’t pick our favorites in the post. Let us know yours (if any) in the comments!

The priorities with Super Bowl Sunday are always food and commercials for me! I don’t even particularly love the halftime show anymore because I feel like they never do full songs anymore. It’s usually some quick medley that leaves me wanting more. So I focus on choosing some yummy heavy appetizers to snack on throughout and choosing my bathroom breaks during the actual playtime, as I don’t care about either team. Also, if you’ve got some favorite appetizer/snacks you like to make for parties, we’d love to hear them as well!

As far as the unrelated outfit today, we’re back with another look that’s basically all ASOS! I’ve had these faux leather joggers since the early Fall. We actually shot them one other time but the season got away from us and we didn’t love the pictures. So technically this is remix #2 but I guess you’ll never see the first time, hahaha. I feel a little like MC Hammer a la “Can’t Touch This.’ They’re not something I’d typically buy, but on a whim I ordered them and liked the feel of wearing faux leather pants that weren’t skin tight.

They’ve got a more sporty vibe to them, which helps fill a void in my closet. They don’t scream, I’m going out clubbing as much as skinny leather pants might. Also, despite being a fuller cut, they still skim my legs and the tapered bottom still creates a nice silhouette. The waist is right to my belly button but not above it, and there is a drawstring to tie them tighter if needed. I bought a size 10 and I’d say they’re true to size.

We talk about ASOS’s selection of bodysuits quite often, but this is actually just a normal wrap top. I got it for Christmas and was quite pleased to finally have such a nice fitting wrap top. Usually, I find one I like in a mainline size and then size up, creating a baggy fabric excess under my armpit. Not such a good look for a wrap style top. This one covers my wrists, which is all I ask for! It’s not super long, so if you’re in need of a longer butt-covering top, this probably doesn’t fit the bill. If I want to wear it to work, I’d just put a cami underneath to raise the neckline. I love a good V neckline, as it flatters a lot of different body shapes.

Lastly, these booties are from Nordstrom (I bought them last year), but still available. They’re Treasure & Bond brand. Some reviewers say they run a little small. I notice it slightly but think they fit my size 13 feet just fine. I also have more narrow feet, so they might not work if you have wider! This Winter more than ever I’ve realized the value of having a couple pairs of boots you just love. I don’t ever get sick of wearing these and basically alternate between these, my Coix brown boots you’ve seen me wear with everything and flat Chelsea style boots I found at Long Tall Sally and Nordstrom Rack. That helps me justify spending a bit more on boots because the cost-per-wear drops dramatically after wearing them daily.

Hopefully this inspires you to try out something you’ve been eyeing but is outside of your wheelhouse. You never know until you try something on, is my motto.
