Hope everyone liked my little play on words, very clever girl right? It feels like this week is longer than normal, probably due to the holiday season. It’s that time of year where your social calendar ramps up, and everyone feels like having a get together or party. I’m all about gathering with friends and family, but I also would love to see people I care about outside of the holidays all crammed into a month long stretch.

With that being said, there is nothing like a holiday gathering. Everyone’s homes are decorated beautifully, people are in especially good moods, and there is nothing like dressing for the holidays! Everyone brings out their fun items of clothing they keep stashed away for the rest of the year. You get to see people shine like never before, (pun intended) with all of their sequins, velvet, and jacquard fabrics.

The holidays are all about statement pieces, in my opinion. They call for a little something extra, a cut above normal. Whether you pull in a louder than typical color, or a special detail, it’s all welcome during this special season. Plus, as tall women, we can pull off some of the more difficult styles due to our gift of extra length. Take advantage ladies, and pick something that you love!

Speaking of something I REALLY LOVE. This teddy bear coat. You read about it on Monday here, from Caitlin’s post. Literally can’t speak highly enough about it. It is the coat of my dreams. Not only is it extremely chic, but it also feels like a coat you’d take a nap in. That doesn’t even compute how that would be the same coat, yet here we are indescribably happy because of it. Not only that, but it is completely on trend and a tall girls dream for length.

Long Tall Sally is killing the coat game right now. Caitlin and I also spotted this red beauty and are debating if we really “need” another coat. Wisconsin winters though, all in favor!

When I was browsing Long Tall Sally’s look book, I was so inspired by the idea of a monochromatic outfit, after I spotted this coat. I took one look at this mock-neck sweater dress and knew it fit the bill. Just a note for us tall ladies, a couple of the pictures on the website show it being below the knee midi length. As you can tell by the pictures, it definitely at or above the knee depending how tall you are. For me at 6’4, it’s a couple of inches above the knee, but with tights, I am all set to look this luxe sweater dress.

**Sale Alert that this dress is down to $75 today only!**

A problem I’ve had with sweater dresses in the past, is the quality. There are zero issues with this beauty, it is right between thin and thick and I love that it isn’t see-through like some others I’ve tried in the past. I’m looking forward to wearing this through winter, maybe switching to some leggings when the true cold hits us. If you’re looking for more of a cheery color, this red sweater dress more than fits the bill and is on sale today as well.

Last and certainly not least – these boots. I’m going to be wearing these as much as I can get away with this winter. I am in love with the quality and the fit of these boots. They are true to size, a high quality and so ridiculously comfortable. The cognac brown color is what I’ve been searching for, and the gold buckle detail just adds the finishing touch.

Also love that they are named the Cindy Leather Booties after my wonderful mother in-law! They are also available in black, because Long Tall Sally has all our needs covered!

Long Tall Sally also provides an array of beautiful nylon and tight options for anyone wondering where to find those. In the past we had been buying the queen sizing in random stores, but not any longer! Now we can buy them specifically made for our long limbs!

This whole outfit made me feel like a rock star, and I can’t thank Long Tall Sally enough for creating tall pieces for tall women to be just as chic as the rest of the population.

Also, Caitlin’s chenille sweater is on sale today for $45! You won’t regret having this cozy yummy colored sweater.

I would like to formally apologize if that song is now stuck in your head like it is mine. But in all honestly that is all I can think of when I wear this beautifully cozy coat and you will want to spin around in it as well to show it off.

I don’t often treat myself to on trend coats because, well, they’re expensive and I try to ball on a budget. And also because, in the depths of winter I am usually forced to wear my down Patagonia Jacket. I also alternate with my favorite dressier coat that Jenilee got me from Asos for Christmas a few years back.

There are so many coats I have lusted after, but I can never seem to pull the trigger on my own. So when the winter lookbook came out for Long Tall Sally and this Teddy Bear Faux Fur Coat revealed itself; it had to be mine. So as I do with most items I told Jenilee I had to have that one. Unsurprisingly, she just happened to also need it. Before we had the coat in our hands, we saw our fellow tall friend Lindsey wearing it, and became even more excited when we saw the sleeve length on her.

When the coat actually arrived, I was so pleased with how comfy, cozy and warm it was while also not being extremely bulky. It’s definitely thick but in a good way.  If you’re looking for the perfect warm, trendy, versatile coat look no further. And hurry up because this one won’t stay in stock forever!

Anyways I will digress and move on from my love affair with this coat to talk about the feels from this chenille turtleneck sweater. I won’t lie, chenille coming back was a weird blast from the past for me and I definitely wasn’t here for it. I very clearly remember a lavender cardigan I wore in our church family photos as a child. For some reason I just felt like I should leave chenille there.

However the color of this LTS turtleneck was undeniably gorgeous so I gave it a shot and now I live permanently inside of it. Seriously – it is that soft, that I never want to take it off. I wore it to Thanksgiving dinner and couldn’t have been more comfortable all day. It felt like I was wearing a blanket the entire time. Which, if you know me in real life you know that this is pretty much what I strive for. You could also say that I am officially on the chenille bandwagon now!

As we continue down the outfit, that would lead us to these jeans! I have never given straight leg a shot but with a little bit of encouragement from Jenilee, I figured why not try to hop a little bit outside the ole comfort zone.

I also wore these to Thanksgiving dinner and I have to tell you they felt nearly the same as leggings with comfort. These have so much stretch! I do have to say, I may have been better off ordering a size down, but like my mom said it’s good to have a comfortable pair of pants! I liked them better rolled with these specific boots but since then I have worn them unrolled to show up the cute raw hem. The other amazing thing, is the inseam length options. I ordered these in a 34′ inch, but they also do 36′ and 38′. They’ve got us all covered ladies!

Lastly, these beautiful fur boots! If you haven’t picked up that we require a lot of warm weather clothing and shoes here – this is me telling you. We need oodles and oodles of coats, boots, wool socks, etc. because winter is long, cold, and scary. I saw that these were not only a cute pair of booties, but would also keep my feet warm, while also having an outdoor style tread. I was ecstatic!

I have reached for these so many times already. For Thanksgiving, for an outdoor Christmas Market, for wearing them to and from work, and multiple other errand days. They are so comfortable and unbelievably warm. When we went into a tent at the Christmas Market I had to unzip them because my feet got too hot! That rarely happens in Wisconsin winters.

In conclusion – you need everything I am wearing. Totally kidding, except not really. But truly each of these items is made so well that I would recommend each of them -together or separate.  Also if you read the post we wrote here and here about the Karl Lagerfeld Paris collection at Long Tall Sally or prefer the newer items from the #MerryEverything campaign, click here so you don’t miss this giveaway!

I know I’m not alone with feeling like last week was like two weeks in one. We’re on limited brain power over here, after enjoying basically a week of birthday celebrations. In case you missed this post, my family compiled a list of 30 things about me – I’m pretty easy to define by certain things, hint hint popcorn.

Our birthday celebrations started Wednesday night, we met up at a local Tiki bar and had everyone wear their “party shirts” aka Hawaiian shirts. They had a music bingo game so we joined in on that and then ordered a fun treasure chest drink to share with everyone. Thursday morning we got up and hit the gym to start off our birthday and Thanksgiving right. Caitlin and I have been really focusing on incorporating more stretching into our gym routine, so we’ve been following some YouTube videos that take you through a full body stretch.

We had an amazing Thanksgiving dinner over at our parents house. Hope you all had some great family time as well! Our aunt made Nick and I this incredible homemade yin yang ice cream birthday cake. It feels great to be 30 and I’m grateful for all the birthday love that has been shared!

Friday some of us had to work – cough cough me. But I ended off the day with getting to see my best friend Katie’s twins and then her husband took the babies and we had a girls night out at a local German Christmas market. It reminded me more of Munich’s Oktoberfest, with a large beer tent and polka dancing. It was a great girls night!

Saturday morning I was awoken up bright and early and had the BEST rest of the weekend. Stay tuned for our post Wednesday. I was incredibly spoiled by Caitlin and my Mom’s surprise birthday celebration. You might have caught pieces of it if you saw our stories on Saturday and Sunday.

We did some shopping this weekend and today for Cyber Monday, and hope y’all got a jump on your Christmas shopping as well. There are some great discounts out there for whatever you’re shopping for, and we hope you found our gift guides to be helpful. Any feedback on what you’re looking for, we want to hear it. We’ve got a couple more coming yet – so stayed tuned!

This sweater is such a great mainline find. I mentioned it back in this post from New York! The store isn’t a tall store, but I would call it tall friendly. As you can see from the sleeves, they are very generous. It feels super luxe and keeps me warm for winter. The color is a gorgeous pinkish peach.

I wanted to style it two ways because we’re always about clothing maximization. I try to buy pieces I can see myself wearing for both work and play. This sweater definitely fit the bill. For the casual look, I paired it with my new Express ankle jeans that have a distressed hem. I still maintain that Express could make an additional inseam length, especially for their non-skinny jeans.

Now that the first snow has fallen, I probably won’t be wearing these with loafers again. Some of you southern tall sisters probably still have weather that will allow for that look. Thankfully the ankle booties are in right now! The length is conducive to wearing them without having to roll the hem. I usually buy between a 10/12 for jeans and these are 10. They’re definitely snug, but way comfortable.

For the work friendly look, I grabbed a pair of Harper’s I got from Old Navy for less than $5, a couple of years ago. The Harper style has improved even more since then. If you have the patience to search in store, bless your heart. Our local Old Navy is a mess, but it always feels SO GOOD when you walk out with a deal like that. I have been wearing these loafers nonstop since I found them in New York. Y’all know I love me a pointy toe shoe. We just found them again in Chicago at Nordstrom Rack and they are also linked them below.

Let us know below, what great deals did you score with your shopping?

Outfit Details

Have you heard Jenilee mention how I am the self proclaimed comfort queen lately? Well if not, take this as your reminder. When I felt how soft this vest was I knew it was going to be living in my closet soon. I first saw it up north at a local shop and held on to it as my dad and I perused the store. But being the bargain hunter I am, I typically always check other online retailers before an in-store purchase to make sure I am getting the best deal.

So, needless to say the vest did not come home with me that day. It was $50 more in-store than what most of my go to gear stores had it listed for. (Steep and Cheap, Backcountry, Moosejaw I’m looking at you!) To be honest, I can’t remember which store I purchased it at now but I believe it was Moosejaw and it was worth the wait for the discount I got.

I am a longtime Patagonia lover and I blame this solely on my mama. She found a winter jacket deeply discounted at their store in Chicago while visiting our brother and it somehow had long enough sleeves for her. We have had various North Face jackets/fleeces/ quarter zips in the past but it was pretty clear we were settling with the fit. We had two options with them: Size up and wear a boxy item that the sleeves still barely reach or buy a mens and sacrifice the fun colors. Anyways, somehow that jacket is mine now because she is the best and our family has really settled into being team Patagonia.

This vest feels precisely how it looks-like a blanket. You are literally wearing blanket around with you all day and it is glorious. When thinking about how I wanted to portray this vest the first things that came to mind are how many different ways I have worn this. I have gone extremely casual, semi dressy and worn it just for overall warmth while surviving winter in Wisconsin. I picked two of my favorite looks for today but if y’all like the idea of this post and want to see more of this specific outfit or any others remixed please ask! We are happy to show you anything we post in different variations or on each other etc.

Let’s dive into the details of this outfit shall we? The first outfit could practically be my up north uniform in the fall: Lululemon Ultra High Waisted Wunder Unders, a flannel, SmartWool socks, my duck boots and of course my Los Gatos Vest. Seriously, I could live in this outfit and typically I do.

These boots have gotten me through so many rainy camping trips, cold dewy mornings, and the weird slush stages of snow here in Wisconsin. If you are looking for a pair of boots that are a little bit more budget friendly than Sorel’s (I love those too) these may be a great option for you. I will say you do sacrifice some warmth with these which is why I wear my wool socks but they have never let moisture in. The flannel is one I grabbed a few years ago when Old Navy started making them in tall (praise!) but they still have so many similar options. These leggings are pretty new from Lulu and when I read the words ULTRA HIGH I was in. sold. Sign, sealed, delivered they had to be mine. I am in love with how high they hit on me! And obviously the vest! I love the texture it adds to any outfit, it comes in some delicious colors and you pretty much need it!

The second outfit is a common errand running outfit for me. Full disclosure: I definitely only put this on to show all of you this day, but it is something I do absolutely wear. This striped shirt is also from Old Navy and I loved it when I got it. However, as we were shooting this day Jenilee pointed out that not one but BOTH armpits have holes in them. I am not impressed with the quality at this point but sometimes you get what you pay for I suppose. These are older booties from Franco Sarto that have been put to good use for years (Jenilee and my mom both have them also!). And to no one’s surprise the Madewell jeans are on FULL rotation and are still as comfortable as ever.

Side note: Did you know Madewell recommends only washing their jeans once every ten wears? What do you think about this? To be honest, I am totally and 100% in support of this but some people find it gross.

Anywho I hope you love these remixed outfits as much as I do! Please let us know if you want to see more of this type of post, we want to provide the content y’all are looking for.

This week is really flying by for us, given that we both had the day off Monday due to Veteran’s Day. We’re both endlessly grateful that we live in a country that people are willing to sacrifice for the rest of the civilian population. We honor people’s military service and thank you if you are one of them! Hopefully you caught Caitlin’s post about her new dress and booties here! They make for one killer outfit! We’re so thrilled to have received some actual tall dresses.

Caitlin and I went and got our hair done Monday – which is always fun to do together. From there, we also hit up Goddess & The Baker, which is a new cafe/bakery that people have been raving about. We topped that off with finishing out our sand volleyball season, which ended up being painfully cold. I got laughed at for wearing a pair of leather gloves, but no shame in my game. This cold is no joke and we all had to stay warm any way we could! The only upside was that the sand was frozen and I had more hops than I have ever had before, ha ha.

We’re hitting the excitement of the holiday season, with Thanksgiving upon us (and it’s Nick and my birthday the same day). I already feel the difference in people’s demeanor. It brings a lightness and dare I say, jolliness to interactions. It also makes me want to dress for the season, with more frivolous purchases, like all the metallic and sequins I can find.

Despite all the wonderful sale prices we’re being tempted by in preparation for Christmas shopping, we mentioned before that we’re not getting carried away with endless consumerism. It would be easy to buy anything and everything, but credit card debt is not something people should take lightly. We’ve been raised to be financially responsible and on a budget and we encourage everyone to do the same. Be thoughtful in your gifting this year, quality over quantity will be so much more meaningful.

With that in mind, I’m so grateful for this dress by Karl Lagerfeld Paris x Long Tall Sally. It is a total timeless tweed grey fabric, and the perfect length for tall women to be satisfied. Plus, it will see you through multiple seasons. The fabric is lightweight enough to make it work for warmer temperatures, but substantial enough that you won’t be uncomfortably cool in winter. There is the perfect amount of stretch to make sure you’re not feeling restricted but still looking tailored.

The bow is perfect finishing touch to make you stand out even more. Plus it makes it far from a boring work dress option. I’m always looking for those extra details to class up my wardrobe, and this was definitely the perfect piece.

Although it is the perfect dress for work, I would wear it to a holiday gathering in a heartbeat for a ladylike look. It’s a classy way to look like a present and appropriately festive, without having to buy said sequins and metallic occasion dresses.

I took on the challenge of styling this dress for two different seasons. We’ve been hit with some January type weather a few months too soon in Wisconsin. I’m only happy to have had the chance to report back that this dress will see you through the Winter months with ease.

For my Fall friendly look, I paired the dress with my new favorite Charee pumps also from the Karl Lagerfeld x Long Tall Sally collection. These bad boys have a beautiful block heel for comfortable wear throughout your work day. They also come in a beautiful leopard print as well. Plus the heel height is a friendly 2 inches, and I don’t even feel like I’m wearing heels, which is clutch for my shoe selection. If I’m wearing a shoe 9 hours a day, I’m not going to be uncomfortable and everything about these are fantastic!

Once Winter makes itself known (OK fine I’ll admit that it’s here), I’ll be layering a tissue thin turtleneck underneath to completely change up the look of the dress, and to keep me warm. I also see myself pairing it with a blazer over the dress for an addition look, with the bow peeking through. To finish it off, I switched out the pumps for block heeled booties to keep those feet covered up and added some black tights to keep my legs warmer as well.

Tell us below, do you transition your dresses through multiple seasons?
