Obviously the current buzz for me is what to wear while being tall AND expecting. Many of you were very responsive to our poll on our Instagram post and we thank you for that! Unfortunately, it seems the landscape of tall maternity clothing is going the opposite direction. Less options are being offered compared to other women’s past maternity experiences. However, take heart, we still have plenty of options, sometimes it just takes a bit more creativity!

Elevated Closet

One name repeated which we can attest to, is Elevated Closet! They have some great, affordable options for tall maternity clothing. Elevated Closet is here to make your tall maternity shopping experience that much easier! Read up on our post with them here and check out the top two tops we rocked which work for both during and after maternity!

Megan Reilley

An unlikely hero piece for me during maternity is my Venus Megan Reilley jumpsuit. I bought it in a size large and it was generous but perfectly slouchy. It now is growing seamlessly with my bump and I highly recommend you add to your closet because it’s a one piece wonder that will also be perfect for breastfeeding. PLUS, it is on clearance right now so you won’t find a better price than that.

With loving that jumpsuit right now I hit up their website and snatched up their Candace black leggings in hope they will grow with my bump. I will report back after I get them in the mail. I also snagged their Gisele black turtleneck midi dress because Caitlin already purchased it and it is another hero tall girl piece that will never go out of style in your closet. Plus, that’s another piece that will help me dress my growing bump! I bought both in size large, for reference. Everything on their site is clearance right now, and free shipping if you hit $100. Sizes are limited so if you had been thinking about anything now is probably the moment!

Amazon Options

I also bought this six pack of nursing friendly bralettes for under $25 and have been loving them! The pads in them look kind of funky to me without a shirt on but look normal with a shirt, so I kept! For whatever reason, my boobs have already begun leaking in preparation for breastfeeding, which hasn’t been fun. After initially being concerned, my doctor told me to take it as a good sign that I’ll be ready to feed the baby when he arrives!

Also, if you missed the first post about transitioning into maternity friendly dressing, check this post here for a couple of key items that have helped me through without spending a bunch of money!

Pony-o’s

A non maternity item that I snagged and have also loved are these Pony-O hair bands. A different take on a “hair tie,” they have kept my hair in place and my ponytail looking fuller and staying higher than I’ve ever been able to achieve with desperate amounts of teasing.

Old Navy Tall

Back to another item I JUST bought for maternity but haven’t received yet. Old Navy’s regular tall leggings are apparently a hit for maternity wear and were recommended highly by several women in response. Specifically Old Navy’s power soft leggings! They come in tall length, and many many colors. I just ordered the camo, leopard, cedarwood, and coral in size Large Tall and will report back when I receive! I have long worn Old Navy’s tall leggings at 6’4 and they have always hit where they are supposed to for inseam options. I’ve typically worn large for sizing reference and all of the old pairs have still been fitting my bump comfortably!

Also while scrolling their site, these fold over joggers come in tall and a bunch of fun colors. I think the fold would work super well on covering the bump for extra rise length! Also I bought one more workout tank to go with it, because I have this one in a different color. It is not only super soft but the length and size is generous enough to work before/during/after bump!

Hoping this is another clutch post for you with shoppable links you can use to get through your pregnancy. We have plans to shoot some looks this weekend so we will come back and update this post or be sharing a new post shortly with more tall maternity clothing looks! Let us know what you think below!

Y’all we are back on the blog and feeling the Christmas spirit right about now, as we get to share an exciting new denim drop from Amalli Talli! That’s right, if you got your hands on the first round of their denim collection, then you’re still probably wearing those on repeat and have been counting down the days to, TODAY! We all need more places to buy tall womens denim and they are coming through for us in a big way.

Amalli Talli has two new styles for sale today, and they are expanding their selection so there is an option for everyone. Up First is the new version of their jeans, the Jackson Skinny High Rise but with a BUTTON FLY! If you’re like us, then you typically see trends floating around for a while before you can find your length/inseam available. Amalli Talli has us covered in this perfect black wash denim. The rise on this pair is a lovely 11 inches! I am wearing the size 30 and the 36 inseam which is exactly what we got last time, so true to size for us. We’d tell you to size down if you’re in between sizes. Caitlin went with size 29 and the 34 inseam and is also loving the fit.

One of our favorite parts about this cut is the higher rise in the back. No worrying about your butt crack popping out every time you bend over if you don’t always like to wear a belt. Oh, and of course we are obsessed with the button fly. It gives your standard pair of denim some visual interest and for wearability the buttons are easy to open/close if that’s one of your worries.

The other thing to note about the difference in these two pairs of denim is they updated the fit below the knee. The original Blakely denim (check our original post on them, here) are a bit relaxed once they hit the knee. This pair is more your true skinny so stays close to the calve the whole way down including a smaller ankle opening. It is worth noting that the fit through the waist, hips, and thighs is exactly the same!

An issue we’ve struggled with in wearing skinny’s is the inseam might be “correct” but once you’re wearing them for the entire day we realize as we’re sitting at our desks that the knee isn’t in the correct spot. We have to hike them up before sitting down or they pull down or are uncomfortable as you sit for long periods of time. Amalli Talli knows the struggles because they live them as well, so you better believe they tested and retested to avoid any of these issues!

The second pair of denim they cut is the Jackson Skinny Mid Rise. For reference the original Blakely’s have an 10.5 inch rise and this pair is 8.5 inches. The rise still cuts higher in the back, for anyone worrying about butt crackage! As much as we will always love some high rise denim, there will always be a place in our closets for some mid rise. Just never mention low rise in our vicinity, those were some dark, scary times to look back on… haha.

This pair has the perfect quintessential mid denim wash. A deep true blue that has some whiskering, you will be able to remix them with anything in your closet with ease. Again, we are wearing size 30×36 (Jenilee) and 29×34 (Caitlin) and would recommend going with your usual size and size down if in between. We would like to also point out Caitlin is only wearing a belt as an accessory not for its true function use (no need for that with this fit!)

Amalli Talli also adjusted the inseams this time. After the first launch I think we all realized we were getting the short end of the stick on some of our usual denim retail orders. When you receive a pair of denim that is truly 37, you realize you’ve been getting shortchanged all along. So especially because these are true skinny jeans, you don’t need them to be your inseam to the floor. The 36 inch inseam works great for me and with a lot of my favorite ankle boots still allows for me to turn up the hem! Same for Caitlin with the 34 inch inseam. No cold ankles despite the inch inseam difference this launch!

So we hope we gave you a good rundown of their new denim. We are ecstatic to be able to share our discount code again for 15% off your entire order using THEREALTALL15. Now that you’re done with Christmas shopping, it’s time to shop for yourself and luckily this is valid through 12/31/2020, so if you get some gift cards it will be completely ideal timing to use!

Lastly, everything we wore with their denim today is still shoppable on their site and we highly recommend. The moto jacket (L and XL-Happy with either fit) is almost sold out but if you’re an XXL you need to snag it asap. You will literally never have a jean jacket as perfect as the Hollis, and that is quickly running out of sizes as well. Luckily they restocked their double layer basic long sleeves in white and they are buttery soft and the length is everything! The Adelle green sweater brings the sleeve drama (Both in Medium), and the Mock Turtleneck Red Sweater (Both in Medium) is the perfect basic holiday sweater you’ll always reach for.

Tall ladies are catching on quickly that Amalli Talli gets them completely, because a lot of these items are close to selling out. Our Christmas wish for you is that you find some Amalli Talli under your tree this year. If you don’t, we encourage you to treat yourself and never regret it! Reminder to use code THEREALTALL15 for 15% off your entire order through 12/31/2020.

And as always if you need any help with sizing or recommendations the best way to get a hold of us is shooting us a DM or leaving a comment on our Instagram, we are delighted to help! See below for comparison to the Blakely Denim drop!

As tall women, all we want are the same exact options as any average woman. Not a big ask, right? Well we’d be wrong in assuming that, as a lot of us know by now. Cut to the regular dm’s we get asking where we find cute large sized womens shoes. The list is NOT long unfortunately. When I wear a size 13 and Caitlin switches between size 11/12 because 11.5 isn’t a thing, you know we are constantly searching for the next shoe retailer! Enter new large sized shoe retailer NYAS, which stands for Not Your Average Size Shoes! After connecting on Instagram, we were watching closely as each new drop got better and better.

Things of note about NYAS, first off the shoes are reasonable! Starting at $50 and ending just over $100 you are going to be able to find a shoe in your budget. Secondly, for just launching they have a wide array of styles so you will find a good selection of flats, boots, sandals, AND heels for your large sized womens shoes needs. Yes, worth mentioning further is you are not limited to flats OR heels. A lot of times retailers limit choices due to budget or assuming there isn’t a need/want for particular styles. They’ve got a selection for you to compile that wish list from!

Lastly, and very noteworthy is NYAS is still a small enough business to care what their customers want! They do occasional polls on Instagram to solicit feedback on what type of shoe styles YOU are looking for. But better than that, we have participated in the polls. Plus we have seen the shoes we asked for get launched on the website. They are listening and following through for us! There is nothing more exciting about that for an underserved market. Plus they are serving us some current styles, so we can easily participate in trends we love!

Cut to Caitlin choosing one of the major on trend styles right now, their Zoe boots. A white pair of ankle boots with a platform?! Sounds like perfection to us. If you’re wondering, are there many outfits I can wear white boots with, you came to the right place. Caitlin is serving you up six different looks to make sure you get the most wear out of your shoes.

She got the Zoe boots in size US12. Favorites about her choice, that they are a square toe style otherwise she sometimes struggles with pointed toe squeezing her feet. The boots are super comfortable so she can get an entire day’s wear out of them instead of short periods. Lastly, she loves the platform lift, so she won’t get worn out the same as wearing a regular heel! So if we haven’t piqued your interest yet, check out the six different looks.

Cozy season is upon us, cue everyone skipping over Thanksgiving to Christmas decor because 2020. While we all may have been able to spend more time outdoors this year in order to maintain social distancing, I know we’re not alone in shuddering thinking of the long winter ahead trapped inside. But just because we’re stuck at home, doesn’t mean we can’t wear clothes we love, right?!

Sure, maybe those old mismatched sweats you’ve hung onto since college did the trick during quarantine 1.0. But somewhere along the way, you caught yourself slipping them on for the umpeenth time, wondering at what age you’d start investing in some updated pieces. Perhaps with less stains or cracked writing on them.

Then as retailers started to shift their strategy to match us all sitting at home, beautiful options appeared! Plus, stylish retailers like Height of Fashion had long been plotting their matching tracksuit releases, and all the tall women rejoiced together! It didn’t take much encouragement to jump on these tracksuits is all we’re saying.

Height of Fashion has long outfitted us glamorously, check out this post here and here. Most importantly proportionally. No sizing up, no weird bagging or having to search the men’s options to join in on trends.

We tried Height of Fashion’s tracksuit in both rose pink and grey marl. If you want a high quality grown up version, these are the tracksuits for you. I’m wearing rose pink in a size medium in both the sweatshirt and joggers. Caitlin is wearing size large in grey marl for both sweatshirt and joggers. How you prefer your loungewear to fit is how we’d advise you to choose your size. Both of us found that both sizes worked well.

As you can see, there is great length for either of us at 5’11 or 6’4. If you’re attempting to start your Christmas shopping earlier this year to get on top of shipping delays, consider this tracksuit a perfect gift for the tall woman in your life. You might not like to be a little extra like me and embrace the pink. Good news, Height of Fashion has six different colors of tracksuits in beautiful basics and some other fun colors.

You know us, and we’re happiest when we can be cute and comfortable, all in one. We’re already plotting our matching moment for Thanksgiving in these tall girl trackies! Join us, and we promise you won’t regret it.

Hey all! We know it’s been pretty quiet in these parts recently. We are super excited to direct you to Coix’s website today, for an interview we did a few weeks ago. We’re talking Fall fashion, tall fashion, and of course shoes! We know our tall sisters have the double struggle of shopping for large sized shoes. Coix has some seriously classy, quality shoes. If you’re following on Instagram, you’ve seen us both rocking them, *AHEM* very regularly.

We are very excited about this partnership with Coix. It is more important than ever to keep supporting small AND female owned businesses as we head into the Holiday shopping season in the midst of this pandemic. We wholeheartedly stand behind their product and have been wearing their shoes comfortably for at least a year at this point. This is the type of collaboration we feel lucky to share with you all. It is easy to gush as we want everyone to experience their shoes for themselves!
