I love Long Tall Sally, they’ve been there for me. They were there for me when no other companies wanted to be. Okay, that may be a bit dramatic but really they go back so much further than most companies who offer tall options (and only as a side hustle). Really though, they have been providing quality products for so many years and the new collaboration with Karl Lagerfeld Paris is nothing short of excellence.

You may or may not know that on top of running this blog with Jenilee I also work a few other jobs one of which is business professional. As a taller woman, it can be hard to find timeless items that fit the bill. One of the tougher items to find are dresses that are an appropriate length to wear around the office without feeling like I am tugging it down all day. This is super unfortunate for a girl who prefers a dress to pants any day of the week.

When it comes to searching for high quality, long dresses, I additionally like to find items that are as versatile as possible. Then I can wear them for various occasions for years to come. A big thing for me right now is being able to transition from daytime to the night scene on occasion. Granted, I usually bee-line it to the gym after work, so this isn’t a huge issue. But on the days I do want to head straight from work to a happy hour sometimes I feel extremely overdressed so I have been working on how to liven up my work items for a bar or restaurant.

I took on the challenge to see what I could do with the Karl Lagerfeld Paris Sheer Polka Dot Sleeve Dress. And I can report that I am SO happy with my choice. What girl doesn’t love a solid LBD? And then add in the subtle dot detail on the sleeves and it is just a beautiful piece. Since we are well on our way to winter in Wisconsin I needed to pair this with tights right now (but will wear it many more times through other seasons without). I grabbed a pair of my black booties and I was on my way and as easy as that I am work time ready. When wearing an all black outfit I usually like to add a splash of color and that’s where my MAC obsession comes in handy!

Okay, so some of you may be thinking this is pretty and all, but it’s not that exciting if you don’t work in a business professional setting. That’s where the few extras I toss in my car for the evening come in handy. On my way out I ditched the tights, added my(sister’s) Long Tall sally leather Jacket (Old-and sold out, sorry!), and my Karl Lagerfeld Paris Saxe Ankle Boot (I have black). Changed up my makeup a bit and I felt like I was in an entirely different outfit for the night.

I just need to take a moment to praise these boots. I loved these bad boys from the moment I saw them but it wasn’t until they arrived that I realized how much. I love the unique heel detail since it is like no other shoe I own or have seen. Also, I cannot stress the quality of these boots enough. They are HIGH QUALITY. In fact I am certain they are easily the nicest pair of shoes I own. Living in the messy winter weather of Wisconsin, the cleated soles are so appreciated and necessary. These are going to be a staple for me this winter.

If you haven’t gathered yet I am so delighted with these items. Karl Lagerfeld Paris x LTS you have my vote. I hope some of you will give some of the items a look and love them as much as I (we both) do!

Have you shopped with Long Tall Sally before? If you have I would love to know what items you recommend most!

We’re excited to introduce a new idea we’ve been planning for awhile! We finally got our schedules together enough to make it work, and so we give to you – men’s fashion Mondays! (Sometimes) We know as tall women, a lot of us have tall men in our lives in some capacity. Whether it be a brother, a father, a son, tall people tend to beget other tall people.

With that being said, we knew when we started The Real Tall, that we’d be remiss if we didn’t include men in some capacity! Some men are interested in shopping for themselves, but a lot of men have had historically hard times finding themselves clothing that fits them well if they aren’t big AND tall, the same as we’ve experienced as above average females.

To start this series off, we cajoled our brother into some pictures of items he’s recently purchased and appreciated. His experiences with fashion have been pretty limited. Growing up, our Mom pretty much bought him clothing and within reason he wore it.

Once he was out of the nest he started finding a few things here and there on his own. The first time we’ve seen him excited about shopping, is when he started perusing Asos and finding tall men’s items that were actually on trend.

Caitlin and I have had some fun browsing for him and adding things to his saved items, and then him picking his favorites from there. It’s been a lot of fun seeing him hone his own style and figure out what kinds of things work best on him and make him feel his best.

His life is a little different than ours, because he lives in Chicago. He uses his car minimally so he ends up walking more than typical and/or using public transportation. He keeps that in mind, as that tends to make your body temperature rise and fall a bit more than normal especially being a fast walker.

Asos has a bunch of great multipack shirt options, and they aren’t all boring neutral colors. Nick has been snatching up many different colors now that he realized how well their long sleeves fit him. They’re super easy to grab and they look great on.

He paired it with his recently bought jeans that he found at Old Navy. He’d been wanting to try a black pair and these fit the bill. At 6’8 he’s always a bit wary of the length, but Old Navy has come through again and again for him and the stretch in the jeans are always a good thing.

He is a sneakerhead, so he’s always on the lookout for a great new pair of shoes. He’s especially partial to Nikes, and they go up to 15 in some pairs and 14’s in others. They’re always the finishing touch on his look.

Tell us below, where do you shop for the men in your life?

Alright, I know I am eons behind joining the Madewell gang but fear not, I am here to stay. I have to start with that awkward moment when your very own blog convinces you that you simply must own a pair of their jeans. For quite some time now Jenilee and I have had very similar style and tend to own similar pieces or even some of exact same ones. Even this past Friday we met for a quick lunch and showed up in the exact same button up shirt. Please tell me this happens to some of you out there with sisters/friends/moms. Lucky for us we always get a kick out of it.

Anyways, I’m back from my tangent now-Jenilee posted about her very first pair of Madewell jeans in this post recently and it was then that I knew I also had to learn what the hype was about. I hopped on the site and decided that I would start with a pair on sale because as you know we both love a good deal and they happened to have some I liked. I was messaging Jenilee about the sizing and which I should order since the brand is new to me and she suggested get true to size and the tall inseam since the taller fit her. However, they didn’t have my waist size in tall so I took it upon myself to try the taller too. I agree 100% that they are true to size maybe even run a tad bigger than Gap/Express. As you can see the tall would have been perfect and the taller is just a little long. I don’t mind rolling up some jeans or having a little extra length so these are here to stay.

After chatting with her and trying the size for myself I am so thankful that they offer not only one but two versions of tall. As we like to say I am a small tall and Jenilee is a tall, and they are to my knowledge the first company that offers this perfect option. You won’t hear from us on the #MakeMyTallSize campaign Madewell. So to wrap up the sizing if you’re looking at the chart, trust them. It is spot on and it is incredible.

And if you’re wondering, yes I did go down a rabbit hole when I was on my search for jeans which is where this sweater comes into play. The sweater for me was a gamble-will the sleeves be too short? Will I size up to add sleeve length and gain too much room within the waist? I read some of the reviews and it said that it runs a tad big but I decided I would still go with a Large knowing I wanted it to be a bit flowy but not too big. And again, i am so pleased with my size. On their site they have two views for each item so you can see it on someone shorter/taller/smaller/bigger-I loved that! I love that Express has also started doing this too.

I also want to mention that I ran into a small roadbump during the ordering process with Madewell. I went to place my order and Apple Pay popped up after I entered my address and everything and asked if I wanted to use that. So the lazy in me said yes please and saved me from manually adding my credit card. From there I never got a confirmation email and started to panic two days later. I contacted them with as much information as possible and after short time they got back to me.

Friends, let me tell you-this is the best customer service I have had in some time. Not only did she take the time to look up my order and confirm it she went into detail about what happened (My Apple Pay is linked to an old email that got spammed and everything went there once I chose Apple Pay and then switched the address to my parents rather than mine). Who knew? Not me. I was so thankful she took the time not only to answer my Madewell related question but to explain Apple Pay to me as well which is completely not her responsibility. Totally unrelated to this post I just really wanted to give my praise where it is deserved.

Jenilee got this yummy blue sweater last year and still finds herself grabbing for it fairly often. We both work in a corporate setting during the day and tend to be frozen all winter so for her any sweater that she can layer for warmth is a sweater she wants to own. I myself love this sweater but unfortunately turtleneck life is not for me. I really wish I could tolerate them but I find myself feeling trapped and tugging at it all day-anyone else out there with this issue?

This was both of our first weekend here in what feels like ages so we decided to have some fun. We got in some great weekend workouts, played some basketball, watched movies, spent time with family, listened to a great sermon at church and just got some general odds and ends wrapped up. One of the best highlights of our weekend was trying a new martini Saturday night. When the weather starts to shift our plans shift along with it. We start to transition into nights in rather than nights out enjoying the weather. With that being said, sometimes we have to get creative with what we do here in the cold Wisconsin winters. Whether it’s watching a new moving, trying a new recipe, playing games with friends or mixing up a new drink.

This particular weekend we went with the drink option and tried the most delicious chocolate Martinis. We always think more about presentation if friends are coming over so we dipped the rim of the glasses in chocolate and then mixed together 360 Chocolate Vodka and some Five Farms Irish Cream and they were delicious! We aren’t huge martini ladies here but these might just change that! All of our friends agreed and they were the highlight of the night!

I hope you all had as wonderful of a weekend as we did and have been able to get in some of your favorite fall activities. I would love suggestions on other sites that you use that make your size or use a variety of model sizes! Drop a line and let us know what you’re loving right now!

Enjoy your Real Reel Below!

Y’all it might be Monday, but I was blessed with the day off of work. Even if Columbus Day isn’t a good holiday to celebrate, I’m celebrating not being at work and coming home from New York today. I’ll be sharing more on our trip later this week, watch this space!

Caitlin ended up switching her plans due to the terrible weather forecasted and heading up north to stay at the cabin. Nothing like camping in the rain and mud and cold to get you down! Sometimes you have to cut your losses and change your plans. And now she will get to surprise our grandma with some quality time!

Does anyone else have leggings that are “workout” leggings but you feel like they’re too nice to actually sweat in? That’s how we feel about these Lululemon leggings. They feel too luxurious to ruin by sweating all over them. They definitely aren’t too nice to take with you ANYWHERE else though. Case in point, these leggings accompanied me last year to Iceland, Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, and Hungary. They are absolutely perfect for traveling purposes, when comfort is the name of the game but you’re still attempting to look put together.

We love the variety of color options they provide as well, and don’t be fooled by the short looking inseam, they are definitely long enough for my legs comfortably. We both have a love affair with the high waist panel as well. Is there anything more flattering than a high waist legging sucking you in while still being comfortable? For any non believers, these leggings definitely have smoothing power for helping your legs look their best!

We mentioned our love of bomber jackets in our fall jacket guide. If you missed it, check it out here for all of the best options. We’ve both built up our collection over the last couple of years, as these jackets are an easy grab for a casual but still chic look.

My jacket is of course, from Asos and is from the Glamorous Tall range. I adored the khaki color and when I got it, I loved how thick it was and I’ve been able to wear it as an actual jacket on a night out or also in Europe for sightseeing. I layered a Nike t-shirt underneath it I got from my friends in Portland.

Funny story, I was shopping at the Nike employee store and a guy walked past me and yelled Kobe, I smiled and had no idea what he was talking about but my husband started laughing because he realized I didn’t know that my t-shirt was from Kobe’s brand. Oops! I just liked the gold foil lettering. That was actually the same time I snagged my grey Nikes as well. Big feet tip: when you’re shopping for Nikes don’t get discouraged by lack of “female” options. Head to the mens section and size down 1.5 sizes and enjoy finding lots more options!

Caitlin’s jacket is also from Asos, and she was all about the burgundy rich color and the black collar and cuffs. Add in the quilting detail and she’s completely satisfied with her jacket. She paired it with a cami and her leopard print Keds, which are a subtle nod to the animal print trend this fall.

Real Reel – We had so much fun messing around in this mini park space. The picnic table is on rollers and we were having my husband push us while we sat on it. Check out our instagram stories to see footage of that! The below we like to call a series of little sister syndrome…

And sometimes things like this happen..

Outfit Details

Surprise, you get a bonus post this week, hitting you up with three! Contain your enthusiasm please, think of this more like two and a half posts because we both wore the same skirts as this post, but dressed them up to be office appropriate for work.

We’ve spoken before about our personal policy of buying clothes and wearing them in as many scenarios as possible. We’re willing to spend a little bit more on an item, if it’s going to go further in our closet. We are all about getting our cost per wear down to something reasonable. Don’t buy a trendy jacket that will last you one season and you’ll wear it maybe five times and you spent $75-$100 on it. Buy leather boots for $100+ that will last you as many seasons until they wear out, or a timeless jacket that will be reached for over and over again.

In this case we didn’t have to spend more to find versatile pieces. A lot of the skirts at Asos are within the $35-$50 range, which seems to be pretty standard for a skirt today. I give more weight to buying skirts because I know my day to day life means wearing one for 8+ hours a day. Plus there is something so appealing about buying skirts and all the different colors and patterns that are better to me than buying the same print in a top.

We asked y’all in an Instagram poll if you were interested in discovering mainline pieces that will work for tall women, and the majority definitely wanted to hear about these pieces. Good news for us, because although Asos is probably the leader in providing us tall affordable skirts – their selection of mainline options opens the door to many, many more skirts.

The skirts can be filtered by length, and for workwear we always filter to midi skirts and then main range and tall range. There are a couple of mainline skirts that for whatever reason Asos bills as longline – which we interpret as tall! The style are usually just regular cut pencil skirts, but they always have some fun new colors I’m interested in, like the one I wore in this post.

Everyone probably can probably relate to the struggle of finding the perfect white t-shirt and then the secondary issue of making it last. We’re still definitely on the hunt for a perfect length white t-shirt that is great quality. If you have any suggestions, please let us know in the comments! This t-shirt is definitely still in the running for holding up well and being from Gap tall, it is a great length as well. She easily wears her mules to work all the time, they’re business in the front and party in the back.

My shirt is a favorite from Express. I am all about the statement sleeves and this bubble sleeve is no exception. It lets me get away with picking all patternless shirts but keep some sort of visual interest. This shirt was an stretch for me, but I’m glad I tried it on because it is the perfect length to wear with anything highwaisted. I paired it with my slingback flats, which are the perfect work shoe. They look sophisticated without sacrificing your comfort! You can also see how Caitlin paired this top in a different color in an older post here.

Hope everyone has a great weekend, the first full weekend of fall!
